"House out of town. Ten to fifteen minute walk through the park to get to the town. House and decor tired and not very well kept. Down stairs shower had a poor drainage system, towel rail covered in dust, rusty shower fittings, patio door into kitchen had dropped on hinges and couldn’t be closed without a lot of effort, blind broken on outside conservatory door. Toaster in the kitchen kept tripping breaker and toaster was very hot to touch when used, which would be dangerous for a child. Conservatory had two chairs in which when considering it is for eight people is of little use but could of been so much better with more seating in it for which there was adequate room to do.The gutters were leaking at the back onto the conservatory which was noisy during showers. Upstairs shower in main bathroom vibrated the pipe work alarmingly when you switched it on.Single beds in back bedroom were not meant for adults more for a child. Wardrobes in front and back were meant for children. With the stunning views from the front of the house the potential for this property is far from realised. Not deserving of four more a three."

"On the plus side, the house is very comfortable and had everything we needed for a short break. We had 2 cars with us, and parked one in the driveway and the other on the road - no problem. On the negative side, it was a good job we did not bring our dog as originally intended, as the small garden (front and back) was definitely not secure either for dogs or our 2 small grandchildren. We did eventually find some kind of temporary fencing in the garage along with a notice saying that we should use the bungee straps provided to strap the fencing to a tree to make the garden secure - not a very satisfactory solution as a) too awkward, and b) most medium sized dogs would be able to jump over it. The garden was also quite overgrown, the lawn needed mowing, and needed clearing of rubbish - we found an old frying pan in the back garden. Regarding cleanliness, an empty Pepsi can was found on top of a dressing table and small grandson found old sweets under a sofa."

"Galena is a real get-away-from-it-all gem, deep within the English Lake District close to the village of Glenridding. It has an elevated position, with Ullswater in sight from the livingroom window. The cottage was cosy and warm (we were there January) and had everything we needed. The location was very quiet. All the places you are most likely to visit (Keswick, Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Consiton) are within short driving distance of the cottage. The only fly-in-the-ointment was perhaps not being allowed to stay on 2 extra hours on departure day (until 12pm). This was apparently to accommodate the cleaner rather than the guests! A bit disappointing given that it was low season and there didn't appear to be anyone coming in behind us. That said, we would return as it was a delightful cottage and not much to fault with it in the main."

"Great cottage has been finished to a high standard. The kitchen was very modern although with older parents the appliances were a bit complicated for them. The Cottage is a great getaway, although would of been handy to have a village shop within walking distance. Plenty of room for the 6 of us who stayed, great to have three toilets. Perfect house and garden for a dog surrounded by fields, plenty of walks from the house. Lovely warm cottage, didn’t need to use the wood burner. My advice regarding parking is to use the space at the back of the property as the neighbour across the yard seems funny about parking at the front of the house. Also WIFI didn’t work so make sure you have plenty of data."

"Heggle House is a really lovely home from home place. We have just had a wonderful week there, so relaxing. It was great to wake up in morning to the peace of the countryside. The sheep in the fields surrounding the property and the birds were the only sounds to be heard. Bliss !!! Walking the local area is as easy or hard as you wish, plenty of choices a short drive away. We can highly recommend Heggle House for a relaxing stay in a very comfortable and well equipped home. Pets are made as welcome as humans which is a really lovely touch by the owners. Plenty of lovely places to eat out or if you prefer the kitchen is well equipped for home cooking. We would not hesitate to go back."
