"I'm conflicted in this review but want to be totally honest (otherwise what is the point of these reviews...)The cottage location is excellent and we had some stunning walks down to the coast and then along the coastal path (which to the east follows the top of the downs). We also had an excellent dinner at the local pub, enjoyed the Christmas morning church service in the village church and cooked an excellent Christmas dinner in the cottage's well equipped kitchen. In addition the cottage is set back from the road through the village, has good parking and has good access from the garden. So lots of positives. The negatives are few but important. The cottage is like going back in time to your grand parents, its needs new flooring downstairs (the carpets look old, as does the three piece suite). Equally the shower in the bathroom has good pressure but no real mixer & no thermostat, hence the temperature wanders around. The worst thing though are the beds whose mattresses are old and spongy. We started in the main room but I slept poorly because at 6 feet and with a foot rest it was hard to get comfortable. I also woke up with backache - something I never suffer from - presumably because of the spongy mattress. We then moved rooms to the one with two single beds, they were a bit better but we all left the house after 4 days grumpy because the sleep quality was poor. Note that I spend probably a week away per month in hotels around the world so I'm used to different beds, however I really think that sleep quality is important and hence IMO the mattresses all need replacing. To conclude I wouldn't return to this cottage until the above negatives had been resolved."

"The overall rating is justifiable in that the whole experience was better than expected in most aspects, and even the couple of minor issues were dealt with immediately, in a manner befitting the top class service that the owners provide. From the moment we entered the area, we were surrounded by a peace and tranquility that started the holiday mode immediately. Entering the cottage, and following the very helpful instructions and guidelines that were sent by email, we were taken aback; the pictures online did not do Jasmine Cottage justice. It was so beautiful, cosy, and warm, with a welcome package that included a delicious sponge cake! Both myself and my wife were so inspired by the Cottage, that it wasn’t long before we were unpacked, and either lounging in the conservatory, with accompanying birdsong, or in the sitting room, in front of the real log burner; in both cases, a book in hand, and a plan of doing absolutely nothing! There was only a few cars that passed by, but other than that, just the sounds of nature. There was even the hooting of an owl each night, which was a special treat. To finish the day, we had a choice of either a walk-in shower, with lots of room, or a chrome clawed roll-edge bath, which again, was an indulgence that is the whole “Jasmine Cottage Experience”.For the times we needed to top up our shopping, It was only 10-15 minutes by car to the local Tesco, or maybe a touch more to either Blandford Forum, Sturminster Newton, or Dorchester.Highly recommended."

"Beautiful barn conversion on the Dorset/Somerset border. Very comfortable and well equipped. The owners provided a welcome pack of coffee, tea, biscuits and milk which was a nice touch. They live across the garden, so are on hand if needed. The barn offers plenty of room for two families to get together and not fall over each other! Sherborne is less than 10 minutes away by car with all amenities on hand. Pleasant high street for shopping and a visit to Sherborne Abbey is a must - one of the most beautiful churches in the country. RNAS Yeovilton is about 20 minutes away by car and well worth a visit, especially if it's wet. Good walking, running and cycling from Higher Farm Barn's door. There is a train line fairly close by, but it's not that busy so the noise from it was not intrusive. This was our third visit to the Sherborne area and we love it - my brother and sister-in-law like it so much, they are considering moving to the area! If you've not visited this part of the country before, Higher Farm Barn is a great base to start to explore it. We hope to be back soon."

"This was a lovely place to relax, the initial meeting with the owner was friendly and made us welcome. The fifth bed as pictured has much more room than it appears to in the picture. It is in a very quiet, pleasant village, if you have dogs to walk take a head torch as there are no pavements and typically for local villages not many street lights, there are good cross country dog walks very close (across the road) it is a good walk to the beach but would be a steep walk back for some. There are some fantastic places to visit with old fashioned beaches. Charmouth, etc. If it is your thing, the Devon and Dorsets museum in Dorchester is a must visit. Don't bother with the Dinosaur museum though, not good value and very tired. I would stay at the cottage again."

"A fabulous cottage, plenty of room for us all. The kitchen is very well equipped, there wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there. The garden is beautiful with plenty of room for children to play and a choice of seating areas. It was lovely to have a pool, although unfortunately at the time we were there it was a little too cold for us to use with the little ones - we would definitely have liked to have used this more - the setting is lovely, with loungers and a pool house with a wide range of floaties. Overall we really enjoyed staying here, it's in a very peaceful rural location but within easy reach of Weymouth, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door and Monkey World. The pictures advertising the cottage reflect it accurately - well worth booking."
