What our customers say about their holidays

    • Dr Knight - Verified booking

We have just spent five nights in this beautiful cottage and were very honoured to be the first official guests . Communication prior to checking in was excellent and on arrival we had a lovely personal greeting and were shown around by our host . There was a generous welcome pack with fresh bread, butter, milk, wine and chocolates , and also a useful doggie hamper which was thoughtfully put together .The cottage is recently renovated to a very high standard with high quality fittings and tasteful furnishings throughout, it was also spotlessly clean. There is a good range of kitchen equipment and lots of thoughtful little extras that proved useful during our stay . The outside area provides a relaxing space with views of the surrounding countryside and will be even more delightful in the Summer. The hot tub was super for relaxing in after long walks. The cottage is very well located for exploring both the coast and inland, with lots of local attractions and beauty spots to choose from. The local beach is a couple of miles away and delightful and there are a variety of pubs and shops within easy walking distance in the village. It should be noted that although the hosts live next door , the cottage is very private both inside and out and they are very friendly and respectful and leave you in quiet enjoyment of the accommodation. We would not hesitate to book this excellent cottage again and will be recommending it to family and friends .

A beautiful cottage in an ideal setting Very well equipped with lots of attractive personal touches Light and bright A good garden the dogs loved it!

So nice to lie in bed and hear the sea and get up to a warm cosy room However after the 3rd day there was no heating and we werent allowed to alter the controls! This is poor as in other cheaper properties including caravans we have had heating available as required The dryer on the washer- dryer wasnt working We took home damp washing Also the freezing compartment in the fridge was completely frozen up In the bathroom a grab handle is needed for safely getting in and out of the bath also a thicker and less slippery mat in the bath However these things can easily be put right and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay Loved the naughtical decor and the general feel of the cottage Also loved Sandsend and the beach and the valley and the eateries it all exceeded expectations Wish we were all back there ! We have an amazing stay at Westfield Retreat. We felt welcomed from the initial call, tour of the place promptly when we arrived and the little extras Angela and Rob had, including a kit for our dogs which meant we barely needed to bring anything for the dogs. We had complete privacy and the time and date for checking the hot tub was clear from the beginning so this continued throughout our time away. It was a 10 minute drive to filey which we did regularly throughout our time away for walks on the beach and of course great fish and chips! Wonderful stay - would recommend to anyone! Ps the garden is a sun trap so if you drop on with the weather you won’t need to leave.

This is a beautiful clean cosy cottage, we always check to see if we can get in here first before anywhere else in Whitby. To us it's just like home. We love the size of it a double and single bedroom on the second floor and a single bedroom on the ground floor with shower and toilet, which is perfect for my mum who is 86. It is so warm and cosy and has absolutely everything you could ask for, just check it out . It is on church street and has private parking and is bang in the centre of Whitby surrounded by lovely old pubs and restaurants . Can't wait to book again !!!

Absolutely outstanding cottage in a great location. The cottage was ideal for us with our two dogs as the enclosed garden was a godsend and to have a lovely wood and fields on the doorstep was ideal. Loved the tasteful decor in the cottage and it was very comfortable. It has a real feeling of space. We were lucky to have some sunny evenings so we sat bathed in sunshine in the gardens in the evening with a glass or two of wine! Having the tea room so close was a treat and I recommend the tea, coffee and cakes! All in all the perfect relaxing getaway we craved. We will definitely return!
