Just outside the city (under 4 miles), the atmospheric ruins of Fountains Abbey make for a wonderful day trip, whilst the Nidderdale aonb is just 11 miles away and the Yorkshire Dales 15 miles away providing a spectacular backdrop for enjoying relaxing walks.
