Booking Dovecote Cottage was easy on the website with a clear explanation of the layout and facilities within the cottage and surroundings Arrival was easy with instructions and key code entry The cottage was exactly as described and is perfect if you are looking for a cosy Base for two in order to explore the area - we intended to spend our time walking both the Cleveland Way and Cinder Path both of which were accessible from the cottage within minutes Although the weather was cold we were lucky to have dawn to dusk sun and as a result found the walks varied with stunning views of the Coast - the lovely tea rooms at Ravenscar were particularly welcome since all the local pubs were only opening their gardens for outside drinking and eating at weekends - a shame as our booking was Monday to Friday - and we would have loved to try them - as a result we binged on the very welcome Netflix in the evenings The cottage is renovated to a good standard and keeps some of its original properties and is well equipped - personally I would much prefer a dishwasher to washing machine but I appreciate not everyone would agree James the owner popped by on the first evening to welcome us and gave us some useful info regarding the area and when we met him subsequently around the farm he was always lovely and helpful - it was a fantastic break and we look forward to returning in the future - possibly into his new property

This was probably the best small cottage I've ever stayed in as a solo weekend breaker, who spends their time hiding away from a busy life and writing.
Whilst it's only a studio, it was spacious enough not to feel tight, and the tiny kitchen was better equipped than others I've experienced. One of my biggest hopes is always silence/minimum noise and again this was perfect. The highland cows made no trouble, and whilst I was aware that the unit next door was also in use, I never heard them through the walls, so good soundproofing? It felt like the owner had put great thought into the entire layout of creating this space, with many of the sockets even including USB ports. I think literally the only 'issue' I had was the shower. There was a big rain head and a smaller one attached to the pole and I could not figure out how to switch the flow from the smaller one to the large. It wasn't really a problem so I didn't call on the owner, but rather a 'huh' moment. Oh, and the drive entry is tight. I was relieved my car wasn't bigger as my sensors were going mad as I very carefully had to manoeuvre out (not so much going in?). This met my needs perfectly, though maybe it needs to be more clear that 'privacy' outside isn't what I'd class as private. You have your own dedicated parking space and picnic bench, but the neighbouring unit does also and only a low fence separates you. If both parties wanted to dine outside, you'd be just metres away more like in a pub garden. Not private-private. But I'd definitely book this again.

We booked all 3 apartments has a family and we were delighted with whole place.
Each apartment was well thought out in design and the facilities offered. it allowed us to gather has a family in the down stairs apartment for food drinks an a catch up.the downstairs apartment has bifold windows which allowed the dogs in and out freely with some lovely hanging lights. There was everything you could possibly need. washers, dishwashers, all your cleaning equipment and complimentary tea coffee and milk and biscuits for your arrival, shower shampoo and soap and towels.the beds and sofas were comfortable too. We loved everything about this place. Just down the road were some lovely gardens to walk around that overlooked the beach and town an the walk down to town was lovely, a little Cliffe tram is available if your not up for the walk down or back up. Parking out front or on the side street is freely available.we all loved each apartment and would definitely return.also great that each apartment can be rented out independently of the others is good there is keypad security to each apartment for this reason.

This property was one of the most picturesque Sykes we have stayed at.
Extra directions to assist with post code issues were very well done and we had no problem locating the site. The view over Scarborough bay was great on clear days Low light pollution reveals a wonderful night sky too. The cottage is on a working farm but the work did not intrude on our enjoyment of the cottage. The interior was very clean and well prepared with a welcome gift. We had everything we needed. The TV was large and worked well and was located so it could comfortably be watched. James, the host was just great; we could have taken him home with us. This cottage is in a very good tourist location for the north Yorkshire coast. We understand that some Highland cattle are due onto the site soon to occupy the field next to the cottage.

Ideal accommodation for walking the North Yorkshire Coast, with the coast path less than a mile away.
Well laid out, comfortable and reasonably spacious with ample electric sockets, excellent shower, efficient and controllable heating, loads of kitchen storage areas, and good supply of cooking and household equipment. The owner was on hand to deal with any issues. TV reception was a bit variable, probably with the weather, and Wi-Fi a bit weak (5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload at best), but it's a rural area so only to be expected. There are two neighbouring holiday lets on site, and a (well kept) caravan site, but Forest View is at the far end of the well-signposted winding cul-de-sac and enjoys the most privacy.
