The cottage is beautifully designed and Dan has done a fantastic job of not only saving an old building but making it really quite special.
His passion for it's restoration may have been long, and perhaps difficult, but it is something of a work of art. From the beautifully neat exterior you enter a nicely presented reception area with a beautifully designed spiral staircase, all very cleverly fitted to make the most of the space and leading to the upstairs living area. The kitchen is contemporary with lovely, quality, wooden worktops, presumably all locally made. We love cooking and it was fantastic to find every possible utensil (except one!) available and we thoroughly enjoyed working there as much as we enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room. And talking of relaxing, the bath, and bathroom, are wonderful too - warm and welcoming and plenty of towels and even flannels. The bed is amazingly comfortable, only a double but allowing plenty of space around it so you don't feel hemmed in. The garden is lovely and compact with a couple of seating areas perfect for catching the sun and keeping out of the breeze, whilst giving a bit of privacy. I was especially impressed with the clever design and spacing of the hedging - who's idea was that?! It works so well in what is quite a compact space. And then there's the communal garden with its lovely views across the fields and paddocks towards the hills of which, incidentally, you get an equally great view from the living area of the cottage. Finally (phew, I hear you sigh) the welcome both from Dan himself, and from the nice array of goodies provided, was just just perfect, all very thoughtfully done and beautifully presented. Thank you for making us feel so welcome in your lovely little cottage. Andy and Laura

This cottage was a real find.
I cannot believe how clean it is! It's just great, so comfortable Dan has thought of everything. We loved it, the location was excellent, within striking distance of most everything - coast, forest, scenic drives, views, really good fish & chips (next door), local Shop (all of two minutes walk) which was excellent e.g. my favourite wine at £3 less than a supermarket I use at home. On our first day they actually put some out the back for me. And such friendly people both there and in the village. Bus stop about 1 minute away either direction and if you are lucky you will pick up en-route some fresh produce, raspberries, green beans and blackcurrants being sold outside a house but be quick, they go fast! The cottage backs onto paddocks and we were very lucky to attend the Stables open event on Sunday, great fun, and we enjoyed seeing the foal each morning. Lovely garden facility and again Dan has thoughtfully provided rustic tables and chairs for guests. Neither of us are particularly cat lovers but the two resident cats had me eating out of their paws, hello Spikey and Norman. And as for Dan, well he's one of life's characters! Thanks Dan - your cottage is lovely!

Great Holiday, Great Cottage, Great Host, Great Village and Residents.
The cottage was up there with the best, Every thing you need for a supper holiday. The little extras on arrival were vary much appreciated, ( and Dan the Bottle of red was great the girls only drink white guess who had the whole bottle) Amenities were spot on, good off road parking, out door laundry facilityâs and a large paddock for Louie to chase his ball. Dan the owner, top man very pleasant, helpful and nothing was to much trouble. His knowledge of the area and where to eat was so helpful, Thanks Dan. I must mention the village of Snainton, great chippy less than a minute away from the cottage. The pheasant public house 300yrds approx up the road was 1st class reasonable and made us feel like locals, that included Louie, with his treat and bowl of water, and finally we found the village a very friendly place. Once again Dan thanks for making our holiday GREAT. Trev.Liz,Linda and Louie the Cockerpoo.

Cottage position, layout and secure large paddock for use with our dog was great.
Comfy bed, great bathroom and spotlessly clean throughout. Great open plan living area. Minor moans, the cooker hood and workspace positions. The cottage is upside down living space includes quite a bit of the roof slope. Add in a cooker hood canopy with glass hood perfectly at eye level, whilst cooking or preparing food I constantly banged my head or my eye! Then saucepans struggled to cook 2 veg and potatoes on a Sunday lunch. Final little moan , no cleaning materials, like hob cleaner for the glass electric hob, shower or bath cleaner, these would have helped and did not feel inclined to go,and buy them! Overall though we would return just with a crash hat for when preparing food and cooking!

Absolutely loved it!
We stayed on a short weekend mtb break and the cottage was more than what we expected, we kept our bikes safe and sound in the washroom outhouse, Dan the owner was so welcoming and was keen to tell us the best places to go for what we wanted (Thankyou so much Dan for a great stay!) we felt right at home in the cottage! Gorgeous modern decor with a cottage vibe, it had everything we needed for self catering! Fish shop just on the main road not even 1 minute walk and a supermarket 7miles away! We will definitely be back for another stay so we can discover more of Dalby forest
