Swallow cottage unfortunately was very disappointing.
Other than the area, which is stunning and quiet, and outwardly the building appeared to be absolutely gorgeous. Inside was dirty and not maintained. The instructions on the Sykes website contradicted those left in the property. Firstly, there was no key safe as stated. So we spent a while trying to discover how to get in. After a phone call to the agent we discovered ourselves that there is in fact no key safe. And the property was left open with the keys on the upstairs table. The instructions from Sykes contradicted what was left in the owners book of instructions. 9:30 departure on Sykes, 9 am in the book. No instructions for the laundry, which we did work out ourselves but didn't end up using as the directions were so aggressive and blunt inside that I didn't feel like lining their pocket. Dogs welcome, fully dog friendly on Sykes but in the book keep them on lead and don't leave them alone ( which I did speak to the owner about, as this was one of the stipulations of us actually booking here.) The property inside although beautiful was dirty, and we spent an hour cleaning before we could unpack. I would suggest having a word with the cleaner as this is not a standard that is expected. We also had an extra horror of someone else's dirty underwear in one of the main bedroom drawers which we had to dispose of. It was a warm week when we stayed and half of the windows don't open, the double glass doors which lead to the balcony don't open properly and felt like they we're going to drop off. No exaggeration. And the double doors to the small fenced balcony do not open at all, resulting in no air flow all week. The toilet seat was dropping off, again I spoke to the owner about this and was assured this would be fixed but it was left so I ended up rectifying it myself. You will not get any service here unless you walk about the property outside. This can't be helped but needs to be more transparently advertised. Don't expect to be able to order in here, as we found nowhere to deliver locally. Understandable with the location but also I feel should be advertised. Good points The property location is quiet and a short walk into Port Isaac itself which is beautiful, scenic but also very hilly so keep that in mind if you are physically challenged. The property has a decent kitchen, with a large electric cooker, dishwasher and fridge. The king bed is comfortable, although my teenager found the bed in the single room to be uncomfortable. The property itself is nestled on a farm which is quiet and pretty and you have the extras of chickens and ducks wandering around. It is quiet and overlooks the bay. Nearby there is a dog friendly field by the second car park to your right as you go into Port Isaac that is fenced in, just in case your pooch needs extra security. We didn't end up spending a lot of time indoors due to all of the problems, and didn't get the impression from previous correspondence that anything would be rectified so made do for the week. But going forward we would not rebook unless standards met the price band paid. I am a travel blogger and hate to have to write negative reviews but renters need to know what to expect when they book a property.

We were emailed on Saturday of our stay.
We replied to this but on further investigation realised when returned home, we saw this was a no-reply email. This is not advised on the email. The below were also unsatisfactory at best: 1 - the property is not family-friendly. There is no child-friendly crockery or cutlery 2 - despite being listed as family-friendly, there was no cot or high chair. Poor at the cost of the stay 3 - fridge - had missing shelves etc. made very small for 2 families 4 - second-floor bedroom had no blind. This led to our children taking a long time to go to sleep and waking up at 0430. Hardly a recipe for a relaxing holiday 5 - No hairdryer. Poor for a family-friendly stay and for the cost of the holiday 6 - No toiletries - poor for the value of the holiday 7 - No dishwasher tablets - poor for the value of the holiday 8 - Only one set of keys. Poor for a 2-family house 9 - No instructions on parking. Lead to lots of passive-aggressive contact from the adjoining properties management company 10 - Heaters, all unplugged and unprogrammed with no instruction manual. Not the most welcoming intent or use in a cold house. Thankful we weren't staying in winter 11 - No instruction manual for the property. 12 - access road. The info on this was not in line with the difficulty of the road 13 - Bins - neither bin took the glass, it seemed the recylcing box for this was missing 14 - outside seats - the cushions were not fit for purpose and could not be used with the seating. Made enjoying the outside space very difficult 15 - no BBQ - very poor considering the cost of the stay

We had a great holiday at Waves End and Port Isaac.
The cottage is full of old charm with a comfortable bed. It is very compact and not in my eyes suitable for 4 people. The bathroom is of very small proportions, it was fine for us but if you are of a wider build or disabled this really is not the place for you. A couple of things that also stood out was there was no useable dining table and chairs, as we could not for the life of us work out how the chairs unfolded and neither had anyone else as they were covered in a very thick layer of dust, we ended up eating our meals on a place mat on our laps really not ideal. One thing we did find unsafe was the bedroom window, it opened but the sash cord was missing so would not stay open it, not good for covid ventilation we found a block of wood to wedge it open but the danger was the frame was rotten and the small pane of glass was dropping. You should be able to open the windows especially as it was a warm week. Parking is not ideal but we managed, but please note paying fo a weeks parking does not automatically entitle you to a space , we had to queue everyday on returning for a space. I was fortunate enough to book Waves End last year before Sykes over inflated their prices, for the same time next year it is £300 more expensive and I certainly would not pay £1500+ for it! You can't blame covid and extra cleaning (because yes it was clean but not overly clean) for these price rises, it's greed. I have booked with Sykes for many years and always been really pleased with the properties, this is the first time I've had a gripe.

"Siamo stati benissimo!
Grazie!" (âWe had a great time!â The cottage is fabulous, super equipped, comfortable, clean, bright, with private parking space, garden and sea view. There is a washing machine and dryer which, for those traveling with a child like us, are very convenient. The supermarket is 2 minutes walk away. And the village center is a 5 minute walk away. What we loved most was the view of the cliffs and Tintagel and the cozy atmosphere in general. The village of Port Isaac and its surroundings are enchanting. Thanks to the owners who made us find a welcome gift with local products. We will be back next year! Thank you!)

Fabulous cottage, very well equipped and beautifully decorated.
So pleased to have found it! There are a couple of things we felt were missing; In the master bedroom there wasnât anywhere to hang clothes⦠we only needed a small space for 3/4 hangers plus the addition of a chair or small table would have been handy close to the mirror. For such a lovely house, a picnic table is less than comfortable for whiling away a sunny evening! Really felt this could do with an upgrade. Some serving dishes would also have been of great use as only plastic available for serving hot food. Overall the cottage has been beautifully renovated, itâs comfortable, the lighting is perfect (which is often something overlooked), the beds are lovely, and the addition of a car park space is a godsend in Port Isaac. We would most certainly stay again and wouldnât hesitate to recommend to friends and family.
