What our customers say about their holidays

    • Carla - Verified booking

**Review for Vantage Point Accommodation** Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the accommodation was fantastic!

However, there were a few areas for improvement that we noticed during our visit: - The main double bedroom with the heating system was quite noisy, producing a knocking sound. Soundproofing the cupboard could help avoid disturbing guests. - None of the bedroom doors had locks, except for the bathroom and toilet. It would be helpful to have child-friendly locks for added privacy. - The bottom drawer of the freezer was broken. - In the double bedroom to the left of the stairs, we found a spider in the bed sheets. This might be due to how or where the sheets are stored. - It would have been helpful to know ahead of time that the sauna wasn’t working, especially as this was one of the key features that influenced our booking. - The main door leading to the jacuzzi area didn’t lock, so we had to place items near it at night for extra security. - Since we traveled in winter, the living room was quite cold, and it seemed the owners controlled the heating. Thankfully, reception provided us with two electric heaters, which made a big difference. - The whirlpool jets in the baths need better maintenance. We experienced floating debris when turning on the jets, which was unpleasant. These are just some housekeeping issues we noticed during our stay. That said, Vantage Point was absolutely stunning, and it was such a pleasure waking up to the beautiful views every day. We were welcomed with a lovely Christmas tree, mince pies, and some local treats, which added a festive touch to our visit. We’ll definitely consider returning during the warmer months—thank you for the wonderful experience!

Our first time booking with Finest Stays. We found the booking arrangements efficient and easy to complete online. Contact and information prior to the holiday was excellent. Wonderful apartment. It lived up to the pictures online so we were delighted on our arrival. It’s always an apprehensive time when you put the key in the door and you hope your holiday accommodation lives up to your expectations and 2 Dart Marina certainly did. Good size apartment. The swivel chairs in the lounge are an imaginative use of space to enable guests to enjoy the view over the river or swivel around to watch the TV - great idea. Excellent facilities provided. The apartment was immaculate, very clean and well presented with beautiful furnishings which have been well looked after. Both bedrooms are nicely decorated with a good size en-suite shower room in one of the bedrooms. The family bathroom was ideal and close to the second bedroom. We loved the entrance area and the coat and shoe racks. It meant we could leave dirty shoes and wet coats downstairs without cluttering the main living area. Slippers and dressing gowns were provided and we thought that was a nice touch and unexpected in a self catering apartment. My sister and I enjoyed our holiday in the apartment very much and look forward to a return visit. Dartmouth is a great place to holiday, lots of good restaurants, independent shops and of course great walks and views.

When we booked the holiday it said the Cottage overlooked the river Dart, and you had to go up to the top floor of the house, or up onto very high raised decking outside to actually see it.

There were multiple issues from marks on furniture, stains, damp, damaged items (that we had to report to Coast and Country Cottages asap due to threat of liability), air fresheners everywhere that cause asthma, multiple windows glazing failed/inner condensation, dust and debris, food left under table, the bed on the middle floor was dirty and unchanged as it clearly had been slept on on the left side as you looked at the bed it also had sand in it too and made this room uninhabitable, numerous broken blinds, broken chair, floors not mopped, rubbish left from previous guest, being forced to open a gate for a gardener when the gate just needed a push, no welcome tray, toilet seats on all 3 toilets broken, dirty cooking pans, not enough cups for size of property, radiators closed off so rooms did not get warm especially in kitchen, BBQ absolutely filthy, stairs that able bodied people struggle with as there was no banister, issues in guest book that are still present. There is a need to inform guests of certain requirements like needing black bin bags to put bedding in. Width restrictions for vehicle access to the property and parking would be a struggle with more than 1 car or a larger wider vehicle, also parked cars directly opposite make access and egress challenging.

The property was overall lovely, and comfortable.

The issues we had were as follows... Accessibility: the description of the access to and within the property is limited on the site. The road to access is incredibly tight and difficult to navigate, especially for large vehicles. The layout of the house was not clear from description I.e two separate flights of steep and narrow stairs to access kitchen and bedroom. Not a disabled friendly property at all. Garden area: no furniture provided aside from a bench! No shaded area or parasol and the raised decking area very unkempt and rundown. Not helpful in a heatwave. Area just needs a good paint and clean up. Equipment: TV very dated and instructions unclear on how to use. Tv’s in bedrooms missing remotes so could not use freeview. Tumble dryer not working correctly. upstairs electric shower head needs a clean as holes blocked and water spraying outside of bath. Storage: every cupboard in the kitchen in use so limited space to store a weeks worth of food that had been delivered. The whole house needs some TLC, e.g finding room chair pads stained and quite damp, general re-decoration. However, we did have a wonderful week, excellent base for Dartmouth, and house more than met our needs, with a bit of attention paid to it would be an outstanding property.

    • Mrs Linda Bent - Verified booking

Although the cottage location and general quality was fine, the poor water pressure meant that we were unable to have a decent shower all week. There was also a slow drip of water coming from the breakfast room ceiling onto the tiled floor (until we placed a bucket to catch it which then had to remain all week). The owner appeared aware of this drip but said that it comes and goes and nothing was done during our stay to stop it. We slept in the second floor bedroom and there was no hot water in the sink up there. The details did not say that only cold water was available in the upper bedroom but this is what the owner told me when I mentioned it. The owner was very pleasant and apparently arranged for a plumber to attend one day while we were out. His/her visit made no difference to the water pressure or the performance of the shower. The owner then told me that she had instructed for a new shower to be installed but, without addressing the poor water pressure, I feel this will do little to help the situation. I was a little surprised that no offer of partial refund has been made in the circumstances. We loved Dartmouth but would certainly not return to this property due to the water issues which did cast a cloud over out stay.
