Clotted Cream Cottage is a detached cottage resting in Dartmouth, Devon. Enjoying far-reaching countryside views, a large garden, an optional hot tub, a barrel sauna and a crackling woodburning stove, this inviting retreat is ideal for families, couples and their canine companions looking to explore this attractive part of Devon.
Step inside and discover a welcoming sitting room, where two deep leather sofas gather around the characterful stone fireplace and woodburning stove, creating a wonderful place to unwind after a day of adventures. A couple of steps lead up to the open-plan kitchen/diner, thoughtfully appointed with oak units, an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge and dishwasher, while the dining table provides a pleasant setting for enjoying home-cooked meals together.
When sleep calls, choose between two well-presented bedrooms comprising a king-size bedroom with bifold doors opening directly onto the garden and a twin bedroom featuring a decorative fireplace. Serving the bedrooms is a family bathroom fitted with a P-shaped bath, shower over, basin and WC, offering flexibility for both leisurely soaks and refreshing morning routines.
Outside, the generous garden offers plenty of space for children and pets to stretch their legs while adults sit back and admire the surrounding rural scenery. For an added touch of indulgence, guests can arrange use of the bubbling hot tub, while the outdoor cedar barrel sauna provides a wonderful way to relax after exploring the local area.
A shop can be found within easy reach, while a welcoming pub awaits nearby for an evening meal or refreshing drink. Explore the maritime town of Dartmouth, where you can visit Dartmouth Castle, wander the historic waterfront, and enjoy boat trips along the River Dart. Spend the day in Totnes discovering Totnes Castle, the independent shops lining the High Street, and riverside walks beside the Dart, or head to Salcombe for its stunning estuary scenery, sandy beaches, and waterside attractions. Outdoor enthusiasts can follow sections of the South West Coast Path, relax on the golden shores of Blackpool Sands, or take in the spectacular coastal scenery of the South Devon National Landscape. With plenty to see and do throughout the area, Clotted Cream Cottage provides a wonderful base for a Devon escape at any time of year.
The small Somerset town of Midsomer Norton lies about 10 miles from the centre of Bath, and has a number of shops, cafes and pubs at its centre. The high street is known for having the River Somer flowing along the middle of the road, and is the perfect place to sit and feed the ducks after shopping or sightseeing. Located on the eastern edge of the Mendip Hills, the area around the town provides great walks, as well as cycle trails along the old Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. Nearby there are many attractions, including the East Somerset Steam Railway, Glastonbury Tor, Nunney and Farliegh Hungerford Castles, Wells Cathedral and the caves at Cheddar and Wookey Hole. Just a short drive away is the World Heritage city of Bath, offering something for everyone, including stunning Georgian architecture, music festivals, Roman baths, unique shops and restaurants, plus the Thermae Bath Spa, Britain's only natural spa where you can indulge yourself under a starlit sky. The city of Bristol is also an easy drive away and has a large number of museums featuring outstanding collections of art, archaeology, geology and natural history. Step on board the world's first steel-hulled ocean liner, Brunel's SS Great Britain, in Bristol's historic harbour, marvel at views up and down the River Avon from the Clifton Suspension Bridge, or visit the Zoo and surrounding Downs.
