    Holiday Cottages in Torquay

For a taste of the continent without having to leave the UK, book one of our Torquay Cottages in the heart of the English Riviera. Lined with palm trees and strings of coloured lights that illuminate the seafront by night, there's possibly nowhere more quintessentially English to take a break. With the stunning Abbey Sands beach virtually on your doorstep and the marina playing host to a variety of boats, yachts and cruisers, you could easily forget that you're in Britain at all. With plenty of attractions in the area, our extensive range of Torquay Cottages are absolutely ideal for families looking to enjoy some downtime together. Who needs the south of France when you have the southwest of England?

There's also plenty of appeal for couples looking for a romantic break. Torquay is packed with some excellent restaurants, ranging from quaint bistros to fine-dining establishments. On top of that you've got the famous promenade, the perfect spot for romantic walks, whatever the weather, whatever the time of year. Booking one of our holiday cottages in Torquay also puts you right at the heart of the action for festivals such as the International Agatha Christie Festival and the English Riviera Festival.

What's good to see and do in Torquay?

If you've booked one of our holiday cottages in Torquay for the whole family, you'll find lots of attractions practically on your doorstep. Kent's Cavern is packed with subterranean surprises and very close to the Babbacombe Model Village, which compacts all the charms of an English Riviera town in miniature. There are some excellent castles worth visiting, such as Compton Castle and Meadfoot, but be sure to set aside some time to visit Berry Pomeroy castle; not only is it a crumbling, atmospheric ruin, but it's also supposed to be the most haunted castle in Britain!

Couples are equally spoilt when it comes to days out. Beautiful beaches aside, you might want to take a trip to the elegant All Saints Church, where Agatha Christie was baptised, or maybe get down to the Royal Terrace Gardens to explore some beautifully sculpted parklands and the lush scenery. For a night out, the nearby Babbacombe Theatre wows audiences with top-notch, professional productions, comedy, and children's shows.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • A previous customer - Verified booking

Our stay at Sunnyhill Mews was very enjoyable and comfortable. We stayed whilst waiting to move to our new home in Torquay. Everything we needed was provided for and we particularly appreciated the quality and quantity of crockery etc in the kitchen. Linen and towels were of good quality and plenty of them which were changed halfway through our stay by the very efficient and helpful housekeepers. The beds were very comfortable and having a TV in the smaller bedroom was a real bonus. The location was superb being in walking distance of the town centre and to the local shops in Wellswood. Should the hills on the walk to town prove too challenging there is an hourly bus service nearby (64). The secure car parking was very welcome and right outside the door. The only improvement that we could suggest would be a shower curtain in the bathroom. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to anyone for any length of stay as the facilities were so good and location so convenient. The service from Holiday Homes and Cottages could not have been better. Thank you.

From outside looked the part, but furniture and fittings (kitchen was exception) were cheap, uncomfortable (couch/chairs - too small, downstairs flooring cheap laminate) and need upgrading. Table too small for family of four (average sized people). Also, fixed shower is a basic amenity and should be installed. TV a portable screen size I had in my bedroom when I was a teenager, and I am 44. Would not cost a lot to make Sunnyhill Mews a far more comfortable stay. Slaters commonplace and no floor brush to deal with adequately. Beds not comfortable. Thought fixed window at front was a French door set up. My mistake. Had it been it would have made a big difference to the airiness downstairs, as only had one opening window on ground floor. Sound like a real moaner, but I expected much better. Still enjoyed Torquay and surrounding area. Would definitely consider a return visit but not to this accomodation unless it has facelift. Happy to pay good money for good quality, but not upto par on this occasion.

The cottage at Sunnyhill Mews is set within a beautifully maintained gated property, with a view down to the sea from the courtyard. The cottage itself is tastefully and comfortably furnished, providing a peaceful and relaxing holiday home. It's in a great location to visit the centre of Torquay with its busy harbour and shops, Babbacombe with its funicular railway down to the beach and we strongly recommend a visit to the nearby Kent's Cavern. Within easy driving distance are Buckland Abbey, Drogo Castle and Agatha Christie's former home, Greenway, surrounded by stunning views. We had a splendid holiday, and the owners were extremely helpful and responsive when we contacted them. We enjoyed the local food, ranging from delicious dinners at the Cary Arms (overlooking the sea), to the fresh crab sandwiches, wonderful cream teas and of course local fish and chips! Sunnyhill Mews is a delightful base for a good holiday.

Lovely spot in nice, quiet area, with secure parking just outside. Was tricky to find, but we were supplied with detailed directions. Holiday cottage is modern and has all the necessary facilities, including WI-FI, which was very handy. It's a bit far and high up to realistically walk to any shops, but for a family with a car that wasn't an issue for us. I did walk to the town hall in Torquay one day but it took a very long time and I was pretty tired by the time I climbed all the way back up the steep streets. All-in-all, the price was very reasonable and we enjoyed a very comfortable stay. The cottage was a great base from which to visit all the attractions that we wanted to.

Lovely property, the owner met us when we arrived and offered to show us around the property to explain how things worked then told us we could phone if we had any problems then left us to enjoy our holiday.

Everything was very easy to use the kitchen was full and had everything we needed and the owner had even left us a pint of milk and tea bags to start us off which we were very grateful for. The house was very clean with big bedrooms and plenty of storage, the bathrooms were of a large size aswell. I felt the garden was very secure so I didn't have to worry about our dog escaping so he had a great time coming and going as he wanted. Everything was very easy from starting our holiday to leaving. The location is great, we was a 2 min walk from a bus stop to town or 5 mins from a shop. I would highly recommend this property.
