"We felt very privileged to be able to stay in such an amazing home. On the outside the location was perfect, the views were stunning, and on the inside the house was beautifully furnished and very comfortable with every possible implement you required in the kitchen. The bathroom too was furnished to a high spec. We used the open fire for the first two nights when it was a bit chilly which made the whole barn very cosy, with access to a plentiful log basket. As the week warmed up we sat every afternoon in the 'secret garden' surrounded by the perfume of the flowering azaleas and rhododendrons - so pretty at this time of year.We walked every day, straight from the door - there are many different paths to explore, going from sea-level to high level fell walking. This property had everything we were looking for to enable us to have a relaxing holiday, and we just happened to pick a week with fantastic weather! We loved Highpark and will definitely be booking it again - it was very hard to leave."

"The cottage was a wonderful place to stay, beautifully presented, well equipped, spacious, everything you need. The icing on the cake was the stunning views from the very comfortable living room/kitchen and dining area. The view changed daily according to the weather and light. Would be lovely here in warmer weather when you would be able to take advantage of the fabulous patio, enjoying the views and quietness, glass of wine in hand. Our stay was early Oct.The Old Postoffice certainly ticked all the boxes. Peaceful with all the home comforts. The welcome gift was also much appreciated. We have stayed in many holiday cottages and can say that this has been one of the cleanest and well presented. As mentioned in a previous review, lovely walks from the doorstep. Look forward to booking the cottage again.Would highly recommend this wonderful cottage."

"This is a beautiful house in the perfect location. It could do with updating a bit and was clean. The only problem was single flat sheets on the king size and double beds. There was no way to tuck the sheets in around the mattresses especially on the king size bed as it did not reach all over the mattress. This led to the sheets moving and being very uncomfortable every night and difficulty in sleeping in these beds. Do the owners ever read the visitors comment book as it has been commented on many times before by other visitors and nothing seems to have been done about it? What a pity to have the holiday spoiled by such a basic requirement in a holiday cottage."

"Hosts at Lucy's were excellent, nothing was a problem, the accommodation was first class, we were asked if we could recommend any improvement and my Daughter in Law suggested a hot tub, somewhat 'tongue in cheek'.The surrounding area is magnificent, there are no improvements possible for the Lake District and the two local pubs we visited were welcoming with lovely food.In all a brilliant restful break."

"We loved the old post office in Loweswater. We were s group of 4 adults and 2 children (4 and 7 years old). Although it rained pretty much every day we managed some amazing local walks and enjoyed snuggling in front of the fire in the cosy lounge on our return. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The breathtaking view took us by surprise and we were thrilled to be surrounded by sheep!"
