It is superbly located, a 5-minute walk to the centre of Bowness via a hill that provides good exercise to climb but is not insurmountable. There are many lovely walks that start from the door with a stunning view of the Lake 2 minutes’ walk away. The garden is beautiful and very well maintained. The house was well furnished. Beds extremely comfortable, and tables and chairs and armchairs also comfy. Bedding and towels were also lovely. We found the outdoor table and chairs behind the house and enjoyed eating several meals outside to make the most of the stunning weather we enjoyed while we were here. Having read the last review by a previous customer that was extremely negative we were very nervous about the cleanliness of the house. On arrival, we found that although some of the insides of drawers and cupboards could have done with a dusting, the house was otherwise immaculate, and the beds were all set out very nicely. The utility room was very pleasant, and we worked out how to lock the downstairs toilet :) (you need to turn the lock BEFORE sliding the door closed). The house is generally colder than outside which was marvellous when it got hot. On arrival the weather was a bit on the cold side and it seems that the hall thermostat needs calibrating, but we got around this by setting the target temperature higher to compensate and the house warmed up nicely. The shower in the main bathroom can only be used when no other water is running, if that could be fixed it would be a great improvement. We mostly shared the ensuite shower which was very pleasant. On the whole we had a lovely holiday and would love to come back again. Lakelovers/Sykes has an automated system which we found extremely difficult to get through. If that could be enhanced we would strongly recommend them in future.

We hope it can be used positively in discussion with the owners. As we found it though, the property does not do itself justice as part of your portfolio. Miyanli is a lovely Lakeland house, with a pretty garden. The bedrooms are spacious, the kitchen is large and the reception rooms are comfortable and bright. The new utility area and toilet are obviously a most useful addition to the house’s potential, yet this is still not a superior holiday home. We understand that, although marketed by Lakelovers, the property is maintained by the owners. Despite this, and disappointingly, the personal touch is missing. The property is lacking in basic equipment, maintenance and detail. There was no welcome card or message to greet us on arrival. No effort shown at all, even as a gesture, of hospitality. Experience tells us that caring owners always make some effort in this respect. When we visited the Lakelovers office, we were told that the owners were ‘aware’ of issues regarding the new toilet (- no door handle, no lock, no toilet roll holder) but there was also no towel provided and no note of apology left for us. It would have been polite, and easy, to remedy this. There is also a large, unsightly crack above the utility room door. This all smacks of careless-ness; a lack of presentational pride. Inadequate basic maintenance lets the property down. The cooker hob is damaged (and surely has been for a while!). The (obviously ageing) fridge/freezer has no door shelving and a damaged unit. It needs updating or replacing. The oven contains no grill pan and has a shelf (probably originally part of a grill pan set) which doesn’t fit and has clearly not been cleaned for a while. Two frying pans are rusty and not fit for purpose. There was rust inside the electric kettle (replaced only on our Wednesday lunchtime). Broken saucepan lids, no bread board, not even salt or pepper, ..... simply not good enough. None of the above is acceptable. The crockery is plentiful, but basic (some odd mugs, various plate sizes) and the cutlery is a somewhat random collection (there are at least five different sorts of fork!). There are only three small glasses, three tumblers and two larger bottle glasses, but multiple wine glasses. An incongruous collection, with little refinement. In no way is there any consistency of kitchen provision and this is certainly not in keeping with the property pricing. On a self-catering holiday, the kitchen is an important hub of activity. Quite clearly, there had been no inspection of the kitchen equipment for some time and this surely should be a basic weekly check. All this suggests a lack of care for guests and little attention to either quality of provision or essential detail. The new toilet has mould on the skirting boards, steadily growing as our week progressed. This is in need of urgent remedial attention and is surely unhealthy as it stands. There is no back door key. Upstairs, the family bathroom towel rail is cracked / damaged and the toilet roll-holder is incomplete. The clothes airer is broken. These should not be issues that guests encounter. In summary, a lovely, property with lovely bedrooms in a super location, but sadly lacking in quality for self-catering holiday guests.

The house was big and had lots of space to spread out. The garden was lovely and we used it everyday. The saniflow toilet in the ensuit flushed throughout the night which got a bit annoying.
