"This is the second time we've stayed at Rose Cottage, and we love both the property and the beauty of its surroundings. Powerstock is English rural heaven, although the roads in and out of the hamlet can be daunting in their narrowness. The cottage itself is for the most part in terrific condition, comfortable, well-furnished, and incredibly well-equipped (with a very helpful housekeeper too). But a few things do need fixing. The bed in the main bedroom creaks horribly. One of the toilet-roll holders kept falling off. A crucial outside light has been disabled (not helpful in the pitch-black nights of Powerstock). And so on. Small things, but the owner should attend to them. Visitors should also note that the Three Horseshoes, just steps away and once a pub with the best food in the entire area, now has new owners who (a) serve up typical mediocre English pub food, and (b) close the pub for days at a time with no warning. Fortunately another pub (the Marquis of Lorne) that serves excellent food is close by."

"Wow what more can I say ! The farmhouse was gorgeous and the farm itself was just perfect with the chickens and goats and horses. The children were made to feel very welcome and were invited to help feed the chickens and bottle feed the goats. We were even lucky enough to go horse riding on site and see hr old chicks. The greenhouses full of vegetables on site were open house so the children loved picking fresh veg, although my daughter wasn't keen on the yellow cucumber but happily ate the green ones. The farm manager and her daughter were wonderful as were the owners. We made use of the disabled aspect of the farmhouse for my 88yr old Grandfather and it surpassed all expectation.Overall a fab holiday had by all. Only downside was location as a bit far to certain places we wanted to visit and not many quaint tea shops.... Cannot go on holiday without a cream tea.Big thumbs up from all 7 of us."

"Nice spacious cottage in a good location. Sadly let down by lack of cleanliness. Towels had seen better days (would recommend taking own), bath panel was hanging off on upstairs corner bath also shower was faulty in this bathroom, would not work unless sink tap was running to start with then a horrible smell of eggs came from the shower. Had to wash all kitchen cutlery draws out as very dirty. Hoover would not work. Carpet looks very dirty and stained.Windows very dirty but lovely views. No dustbin bags provided for rubbish.Such a shame as a lovely place in a great location and these small few things sorted out would make it great again and also a good clean through which many people have mentioned in previous reviews, but overall a nice holiday had by all."

"Had some problems with showers and hot water some of which were resolved during our stay.Felt as though the kitchen could do with more basic equipment and things like dish cloths and dishwasher tablets on arrival. BBQ and patio were cleaned after we asked. Carpet up the stairs was stained. Basic lack of attention to detail. After having said all that this is clearly a great property that has a fantastic amount of inside and outside space and worked well for us as a party of seven. Owners really brilliant and I am sure all the above niggles will be dealt with. We enjoyed our stay."

"We enjoyed a week's break with my wife's Mother who is not terribly mobile, so the single storey cottage Woodpecker suited us fine. Generally well equipped, the cottage was very clean and ideally laid out for our party. Mark, who greeted us on arrival, was very helpful and friendly, and available should we have needed assistance. If I have one recommendation it would be to replace the mattress on the double bed; I would not describe myself as a fussy sleeper, and it was nice to have two pillows each, but the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Otherwise, we were very happy overall."
