"We stayed at Jennings Cottage in August, but unfortunately the weather wasn't great and this impacted our stay somewhat. There are no pubs/shops or indoor activities nearby, so if you don't like the rain, you may be stumped for things to do. On the plus side, when it wasn't raining we were able to take the dog around Tamar lakes for a beautiful, picturesque walk. We'd have loved to have been able to sit out in the spacious garden of this property and enjoy the views across the countryside but we were unable to do so because of the grotesque amount of rain we endured during this stay (not the owners' fault, we know!).Being stuck indoors meant that a few of the cottage's little quirks did annoy us, however. The property would benefit from a tumble dryer as we had nowhere sensible to dry our clothes (due to the weather). Also, there's no dishwasher at this property and not even a drainer for your dishes. The kitchen could do with replacing altogether due to musty smells inside the cupboards and if you don't like spiders, you may want to bring a handheld vacuum along. The double bed was comfy but the wardrobes and drawers did leave our clothes smelling funny. My 8yrold daughter did mention about the bed on the landing being high up and only a railing being between her and the downstairs area (the small bedroom was too full of spiders for her). The owners were very friendly and provided a lovely hamper on arrival, including some delightful cake, and were only too happy to recommend things to do and see in the area. It is just unfortunate we endured such bad weather. This property would greatly benefit from some modernisation but I'd recommend it for couples wanting to explore local beaches/dog walks and some utterly lush countryside over a long weekend."

"Excellent location, approx 400 yards walk to dog friendly Blackrock beach and you can see the sea from the bottom of the road. We walked to the beach mostly although there is a car park at Blackrock which I believe charges £2:00 all day.Cottage was located in a very quiet residential road with a secure grassed back garden for our dog ,although you had to go through the garage to get to it.The biggest plus is the location, being near to the beach and the property is very quiet, but there are a couple of minuses, the cottage layout is quirky, see access to the garden above, and the decoration is a little dated. It seems to have it's original cupboards for example, which are a bit high to reach if you're not tall. The microwave is on top of the fridge and therefore above head height, might be an safety issue as you could spill the contents of your meals on yourself or others! I would also suggest they maybe get a new washing machine as the seal was extremely black and I wouldn't recommend using it.If you are taking your dog with you I would suggest you take a torch as the road only has two street lights which makes it quite dark and the pavement and road is quite uneven. Probably not so much of a problem in the summer months?"

"What a wonderful little cottage! This 18th century converted smithy has all the comforts of home and is a short walk to the Tamarr lakes where you can take part in water sports, or just go for a picturesque walk. Karen and Gary were lovely hosts, very helpful and the welcome basket with homemade lemon drizzle cake was a very welcome treat after a long drive. Our dog was spoilt for choice with the amount of beautiful and accessible walks in the area. Bude town centre is only a 20 minute drive from the cottage with a large beach, many local shops and a large supermarket. Also nearby is Boscastle and excellent cream teas in Boscastle Farm Shop cafe. Would highly recommend Jennings cottage as a base for a holiday in Cornwall. We certainly hope to return."

"It is a very quiet and relaxing place to stay. The cottage has some very old cottage-y features but also a lovely bright kitchen and a very private garden. The owners have catered for all our needs. Strongly recommended.Well equipped and comfortable as well as peaceful. Lovely pub around the corner and short drive to Bude. Really enjoyed our stay.My son in law borrowed some shears from a friend we know in Bude and cut it as best he could! not really acceptable! Also when I rang the lady as we couldn't find an iron she was very abrupt, whilst I appreciate that it wasn't listed although to be honest never though to look at that as there was a washing machine? and pegs and an airier, felt she could have been more helpful."

"My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Widemouth bay- A fantastic location for a holiday. The bungalow was warm and comfortable and in a quiet location. However, we were disappointed that the cottage did not fully meet the description on the booking site. This may be due to the fact that the listing may be generic, including the farm cottages nearby which are also also let by the owner. For instance there was no sea view and no dishwasher. Although close to the beach, the distance to the superb beach is more like 400 rather than 200 yards. The equipment in the cottage was good . The addition of a small coffee table in the lounge would have been desirable. The microwave was difficult to use unless you are very tall."
