Exceptional property with really exceptional hosts.
The shippen truly is a wonderful property with absolutely ALL the comforts of home. Fully equipped kitchen , very comfortable lounge furniture with freesat TV, as well as Netflix, large bathroom & large bedrooms with a four poster bed which is so comfortable we wanted to take it home. Outside, there is very comfortable patio furniture in a secluded private area sheltered from the wind, with seasonal salad crops & herbs to help yourself to. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the proud owners David & Veronica. For them, running a guest/holiday home is a recent adventure & they have worked very hard to make your holiday stay in the Shippen as comfortable as possible with great success. There were some wonderful treats waiting for us , a lovely cream tea, biscuits, milk as well as a bottle of wine, even had doggy treats for Dexter our mad springer spaniel. Our week here went so fast we tried to book the following week to stay a little longer but alas some other fortunate guests had already booked it. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & we will most definitely be coming back here again.

We booked this holiday last minute on a whim as our holiday abroad had been cancelled due to COVID.
Upon arriving, our cottage looked even more beautiful than in the pictures! It was spotless inside and smelt really fresh which was instantly reassuring. Everything we needed was there, loads of utensils, nice selection of glasses, pots and pans, even ice cube trays, games, dvds etc. The little garden terrace area was perfect too with a nice seating setup. We had great weather while we were there and it was an ideal spot for a bit of alfresco dining, the gardens and grounds were well maintained and it really was a lovely tranquil spot to relax in and look over. The cottage is in a great location, about a 5 minute drive to the various sandy beaches near by and town centre of Bude where thereâs lots of shops and restaurants. The beach parking is expensive but you can download an app to pay on your phone so you havenât got to worry about having loads of change, which was ideal for us. Overall we had a great stay and a lovely holiday, I would definitely recommend staying at Hazel Cottage, canât fault it at all!

We had an absolutely wonderful holiday at the Shippen.
We really didn't want to come home. Dave and Veronica were the perfect hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The property itself was amazing. Comfortable clean and had every thing you could possibly need. The welcoming gift was the best we've ever had. Prosecco cream tea apple juice biscuits milk tea coffee the list was endless. Veronica had put lovely flowers everywhere. It really is a 5 star cottage. Sammy our dog loved it too he settled in from the minute he arrived. He did not want to come home either. He loves his special doggy treats bowls towels and doggy bags. Veronica and Dave are the kindest friendly and welcoming people ever. They were there if we needed them but were never intrusive. They allowed us to holiday in peace. The Shippen is perfect and in a perfect location to chill out. In fact it deserves 10 star just for the huge comfy bed. I almost stole it. Just back from a weeks stay at Hazel Cottage - we loved it and highly recommend!
The Cottage itself is cosy and comfortable with an enclosed back garden and a lovely sunny decked area. With an elderly Labrador we really appreciated the accommodation all being on one level. The owners really have thought of everything to make this home from home. The bed and sofa are both really comfortable and looked brand new. There were several welcoming touches. A pint of milk in the fridge, Coffee Tea, Biscuits and even dog biscuits and bowls! It made us feel so welcome. We made good use of the swimming pool and table tennis table. We took time to relax and on sunny days we found sitting on the sun deck peaceful and relaxing, itâs so quiet and tranquil. There was only the occasional sound of a donkey braying in the distance which we loved! Our first stay in Bude and Iâm sure we will be back and would definitely return to Hazel Cottage. A 5 minute walk to the local pub - also recommended very friendly, great food and dogs allowed even inside!

We had another lovely stay at Hazel Cottage in August - the second time we've stayed here.
The hosts accommodated a special request without any problems, and we found the cottage as clean, comfortable and well appointed as when we stayed here before. The warm indoor pool in the complex is a key reason why we stay here - it's weatherproof and there's always something to do. There's a feeling of seclusion to the cottages at Trevalgas, it never feels too busy or noisy. The garden was kept mowed and the apple tree had had a haircut. There's space to run around for kids. Bude's beaches and shops are about a 5 min drive away; we had wonderfully fresh eggs from a nearby farm; and in the terrible weather in our week there, we drove the 45 mins across the border to Devon a few times for rollerskating at Stoppers Roller Rink and trampolining at Air Extreme - fantastic indoor activities for kids. We also found excellent fish and chips by the Quay at Bideford. We would stay here again whenever I can in future: it's a bit like a home from home.
