"Nice and clean, rustic old cottage, with a lovely garden out the back which we couldn't use cause of the rain unfortunelty. Also at the time there appeared to be quite a few spiders around the property, as it was the time of year / season for them, which there is nothing you could do about that.Nice pleasant views And the bedroom was a nice size. The bathroom could do with being updated as was looking a bit tatty, but it was fine and most importantly clean. Friendly owners and in a pleasant country side / rural location near the coast. The cottage isn't right in the centre of the Lake District national park, however it was within good driving distance to Keswick about 20 minutes ish and the northern lakes. We like grasmere so drove there a few times took about 50 minutes. It's also about a 10/15 minutes drive to maryport on the coast, not a lot there. Cockermouth town centre seems nice, however we found it difficult to find parking as you need to go in and get a permit from one of the shops I assume? so we didn't really get out and explore. The cottage was dog friendly which was good. We tried to have a meal at the ship pub which is opposite the cottage. However they don't allow dogs in (who doesn't allow dogs in a pub in the lakes!) so had to go and get a takeaway from the Indian restaurant in cockermouth centre, which was very nice. A good stay for the price would recommend."

"A good little cottage with all the basics required for a stay. Some of the eclectic furniture is a little passed its best, but the cottage overall is very clean, tidy, warm and welcoming. Lashings of hot water which is just what you need after a hard day walking. Excellent location just outside Cockermouth - able to access all areas with relative ease. Owners friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Very friendly cat!(I like cats). Overall I really enjoyed my stay, would certainly come back again and recommend to others. Perhaps needs a little TLC now to keep up the standard, some of the furniture is passed its best and just those extra touches would move it into the excellent bracket. March 2011."

"Beautiful cottage with all mod cons and best of all wood burning stove. Plenty of wood for the burning of and decent Wi-Fi too. Quiet area. No local shops but cockermouth is a short drive away. Also maryport. Keswick is best for gift shopping. Workington is good for general shopping and amenities. Carlisle is worth an hours drive as is Windermere. Scafell pike is good for walkers. Loads more towns and villages within an hours drive from the cottage too many to visit in just a week. Love the lakes. Hosts were nice and helpful and live next door. Not intrusive though. When we return to the lakes this will be our first choice cottage. Hopefully it will be available!"

"We found the cottage very well equiped and welcoming with fresh flowers on the table when we arrived .It has wifi and that was very usefull for my teenage daughter. It has the use of the owners garden which is lovely with chickens in the rear of the garden. Not so great for your dog so we didn't use the garden and would walk the dog for a whee which is hard as the road is very busy in front of the cottage. Due to the bedroom being at the rear you didn't hear the road noise and it had a good comfortable bed. The only thing that let it down was the uncomfortable sofa and I have suggested to have this replaced before next year."

"Lovely little cottage which has everything you need for a staycation. Beds are comfy, kitchen area is well equipped and there are a few games for the evenings. Only downside is the garden although very lovely and well kept is through a large gate and adjoining the other little cottage is to far away from the cottage to sit in and enjoy if you have a young child in bed so we made little use of the garden.Overall though a lovely place and the owners are lovely. Easy access to Bassenthwaite lake and Keswick to the east of the village and a few minutes drive to the west is Maryport."
