St Hilda’s Rest receives glowing praise for its spacious, well-equipped accommodation, welcoming and attentive staff, and excellent location near the coast and local attractions. Guests particularly appreciate the hot tub, comfortable beds, and thoughtful touches throughout the property. The cottage is ideal for families and groups, with many returning visitors. Minor issues mentioned include occasional maintenance needs, garden layout for dogs, and some building work nearby, but these do not detract from the overwhelmingly positive experience.
Cleanliness is consistently highlighted, with guests describing the property as spotlessly clean and well presented. Only rare minor issues are mentioned, such as muddy areas due to external building work, but the interior is praised for its high standards.
The location is highly rated, with guests loving the proximity to coastal walks, beaches, and local villages. The setting is described as quiet, safe, and ideal for exploring North Yorkshire, with easy access to Staithes, Runswick Bay, and Whitby.
Guests find the cottage spacious and comfortable, with ample room for large groups and families. Beds are generally described as comfortable, though there are isolated comments about a lumpy mattress and compact twin room. Overall, comfort is a strong point.
Facilities are praised, especially the hot tub, well-equipped kitchen, and large communal spaces. Some guests note minor maintenance needs (e.g., kitchen items, shower pressure), and mention that the garden and hot tub are not directly connected to the cottage, but these are outweighed by the positives.
Guests frequently mention thoughtful touches such as welcome packs, biscuits, and attentive staff. The host, Debbie, is repeatedly praised for her helpfulness. Please note that gifts or welcome packs are not guaranteed for every stay.

Had a week long stay with family of 8 (+dog and baby) The cottage itself was lovely, clean, fully equipped and felt like a home away from home. The little garden a stones throw away from the cottage was lovely and so was being able to get in the hottub! The girls at the complex that work there where absaloutly fantastic, friendly always had a good morning or hello for you, and had some good tips on where to go for the day etc.We will deffinetly be back for another visit, we miss it already!

Fantastic place to stay, well maintained, clean and they have thought of everything. Easy to get to a couple of beachs within walking distance or a short drive. We loved our stay as a family of 10 and we will definitely be back! Thankyou

We stayed in St Hilda's Rest for the weekend as a family group of 10. The cottage was well presented, clean and well equipped, and the beds were comfortable. The hot tub area is a lovely little sun trap. The cottage is well located for the Cleveland Way, and we walked to both Staithes and Runswick Bay (each about 2 miles along the cliff tops from the property). We would definitely recommend St Hilda's Rest to others.
