This cottage is not a "relaxing retreat" nor is it a "splendid cottage" worthy of 4 ticks!
Some of the photographs on the website are misleading - the reduced headspace in the bathroom and the bedroom is more severe than the pictures suggest. The bathroom has no hooks or shelves - the window ledge has to be used for towels etc etc. More bending! The bedroom has a bed and two side tables. No wardrobe, no dressing table. The garden is shared and is used very regularly by the family - during our stay a bank holiday family barbecue with 7 adults and four young children jumping on a large trampoline only 50 feet from the cottage door hardly qualifies for a 'rural retreat" The same children on the same trampoline etc. continued on another day. Nothing wrong with all this - except that cannot be described as a "relaxing retreat" for guests. Mrs. Iseley is a charming, friendly and helpful host. The cottage is surrounded by farm land and has a lovely environment. She welcomed us with roses, a welcome pack - including fresh eggs. Sykes needs to make sure the right clients go there. It was certainly not a week worth £470!

Myself, my husband, our 2 daughters (aged 1 & 3) & our 2 dogs stayed here.
Overall, I am so pleased, in terms of convience, the annex had it all. The welcome pack, even down to having shower gel in the bathroom was great. The only thing I struggled with, I know it is dog friendly - but everything really did smell of dog. The sofa/cushions etc. We have 2 x mini cavapoo's who don't malt as I am allergic to a lot of other dog breeds, so this was quite tough and I did need antihistamines for the whole duration of the stay. The bedroom window was always soaked too, I'm not sure if this was condensation but it made the bedroom damp. As a family of 4, I wouldn't stay again as it was just too small. We was out majority of the time and it was a great base - Close to a lot. But I probably wouldn't recommend if you have children, for a couple it would be great. Overall, it was a good stay. I do feel the cleanliness could be improved slightly but we was very grateful for the welcome pack and it was a comfortable stay.

A well presented cottage adjoining the house of the host.
Beautiful views over the dales and sheep grazing outside window. Good walks from the cottage or travel into Harrogate or Ripon for a day out. Cottage was clean and tidy but does have low ceilings upstairs which didn't bother us. Anne the owner left a lovely welcome pack which was delicious. The sofa we found uncomfortable but bed was ok. WiFi was a bit intermittent at times but didn't matter to us. Pub literally across the road for a sneaky pint or meal. Very quite at night, no noise except an occasional sheep. We would definitely return and recommend this cottage.

The cottage provided the perfect base for exploring Yorkshire in every direction.
My dog and I were warmly welcomed by Anne and the 'Welcome pack' was really appreciated; delicious eggs from the hens. I'd packed a 10 metre lead which was the perfect length for keeping my dog within the garden (the chicken enclosure being 10 metres from the door, on the other side of a low wall.). A bonus was the quiz night at the local pub! We made frequent visits to the nearby G&T's ice cream parlour which even does a doggy ice cream. I'd definitely recommend this cottage and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

This is easily the best property we have stayed in for a very long time. The owners, location and standards at this property are all excellent. The cottage is really well equipped and is appointed to a very high standard. There is safe space for a dog and very close good walks where the dog can run free. The EV charger was a big plus for us, removing any range anxiety from being in the wilds of Yorkshire. Would thoroughly recommend this as a home away from home.
