Having just returned from Kestorway Iâm already wishing I could go back.
Iâve always been happy to be home after holiday but not this time! The cottage is so romantic, extremely well equipped, comfortable, clean and the perfect location right on top of the moor. A must stay for anyone looking to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and be at one with nature. My dogs were also in their element being able to walk out of the door straight onto the moor with all the exciting smells of other animals around. We saw cattle, sheep, horses and many types of birds on our rambling adventures together. There are endless stunning walks exploring stone circles, wild swimming in the salmon weir, afternoon tea, and the nearby quaint town of Chagford which has everything you would need to cater in self accommodation as well as an outdoor swimming pool. The hosts Pauline and Jim are absolutely lovely, so accommodating and full of information about the local area. They were very kind to my 11 year old son who has special needs and normally too shy to talk to new people but described them as âthe nicest people you could ever meet and the world is a better place with them in it.â

Wow...
...fabulous hidden gem we will be returning...dogs loved it and such a beautiful quiet place to just simply relax and unwind, such peace of mind knowing garden fully secure for our 3 dogs too. Beautiful location, beautiful place and so much on your doorstep to explore and further afield should you so wish to the coast which we enjoyed on two days of our stay. Pauline and Jim with all their wonderful animals were so incredibly kind and welcoming, we felt so at home and nothing was too much for them. We loved our little extras on arrival which was so appreciated and wished we could have enjoyed a bit longer there, perhaps next time. Cannot fault in anyway, really is a truly beautiful and idyllic place to stay - thank you xx

The location, accommodation and hosts were superb.
A very lovely quiet place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Two downsides from my point of view which has nothing really to do with the venue and hosts, 1. very narrow roads which could do with regular trimming as my car sustained minor scratches either side from the hedges 2. Advertised as dog friendly. The accommodation is, but once out on the moors, they must be kept on a lead at all times, which is no break for our Labrador who loves his exercise to be vigorous. I do understand why though, but this must be stated for dog owners wishing to stay on Dartmoor. All in all, a very enjoyable stay with Pauline and Jim Thankyou

We highly recommend Shilston Lodge the owner has taken great care to lovingly decorate and carefully consider what is required to ensure you have a relaxing, comfy, stress free break!
The warm welcome of homemade scones, milk in the fridge and a little something for the dog was enough to make us feel at home for the week. The kitchen was well stocked with good quality utensils, we could have easily made a roast if we wished. Beds were comfy with soft clean linen, and towels nice and fluffy. Good hot showers too! The property was spotless with plenty of handwash/antibac. The location of the lodge is perfect for exploring the local area, and getting out onto the moors. We had a truly wonderful break in one of the best cottages we have stayed to date! Thank you.

We had a thoroughly fantastic and relaxing stay at this lovely gem of a property.
Welcomed on arrival by our friendly hosts and provided with milk and a lovely loaf of locally baked bread. Also greeted by beautiful flowers and tasty chocolates so kindly provided. Kestorway is well equipped with everything for a comfortable and memorable stay. The history of the property is fascinating and the views from all windows amazing. Walking on Dartmoor is accessible from the front door and the small moorland towns of Chagford and Moretonhampstead worth exploring. Such a lovely place and we definitely wish to return.
