    Honiton Holiday Cottages

A market town famous for its handcrafted lace and beautifully thrown pottery, Honiton is regarded as the antiques capital of the south west. It resides firmly in the East Devon AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), on the banks of the River Otter.

A visit to Honiton could include a trip to the award-winning Thelma Hubert Gallery to see the exhibits, a stroll around St Michael’s Parish Church, and a browse around the Allhallows Museum of Lace and Local Antiquities. Nearby, you’ll find a magnificent example of Iron Age ruins at both Hembury Fort and Blackbury Court; worth a visit in spring when they’re carpeted with bluebells. Honiton holiday cottages make great base camps for walkers too, with routes starting in the town leading out to Jurassic Coast of Seaton, Sidmouth, and Beer. While you’re out at the beach, don’t forget to pick up some local fish and chips.

Holiday cottages in Honiton can be booked through the UK’s leading accommodation suppliers on Snaptrip. Real-time availability ensures an instant confirmation of your break and searches can be filtered by property feature so you’ll be able to find something with all of the mod cons you could want.

What our customers say about their holidays

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at The Shippon.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome from the lovely owners, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. After a long drive, we appreciated a nice cuppa with the gifts of fresh milk and delicious homemade cakes, such a thoughtful touch! As were the eggs from the resident chickens, which we enjoyed for breakfast. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained, with everything you could possibly need provided. The kitchen was superbly well-equipped with modern appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher, and even a washer-dryer. They even thought of little details like plastic glasses and fizz flutes for enjoying drinks in the hot tub! Speaking of the hot tub, the views from there were breathtaking, and stargazing each evening was magical. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and we had some of the best nights' sleep during our stay. While we didn’t use the log burner, all the supplies were there, ready to go if we had wanted a cozy fire. All in all, The Shippon was the perfect getaway. Its an ideal base for explring Devon. We honestly didn’t want to leave! We can’t recommend it enough. Thank you to the wonderful owners for creating such a special place!

A gem of a hideaway, secret and welcoming.

Great views from all the windows and plenty of outside space to sit, chill out and enjoy. It was smashing for me, all on one level and easy to get around. The bed was comfortable with enough pillows and extra cover if we felt cool. More than enough towels for the compact bathroom and plenty hot water. I sat outside on a sun trap terrace and on the deck reached from the sitting room. A brook burbles and gushes through the garden and goldfinches and blackbirds were so very entertaining as were the woodpeckers flying to and from the nest. A wonderful place for some armchair birdwatching. The garden was a great with trees, shrubs and flowers all slightly wild and romantic with a feel of a real secret garden that was fun to explore. Our host was great, showed us around and very usefully advised which pubs to avoid! It’s a superb position for a day at the beach, not far to Seaton and Sidmouth. Excellent for shopping in Honiton, great butchers, wine shop and a plethora of cakes and other treats to be had. Not far into Somerset are Crewkerne and Ilminster for more cakes, art, music and gentle strolling. An absolutely fabulous holiday break…

      The Shippon is amazing!

! There is nothing Sara & Ozgur haven’t thought about! We was welcomed with a cream tea which was beautiful & fresh milk and eggs from daisys farm. The kitchen has everything you need and you also have a bbq so we cooked everyday and had lunch out! The hot tub is a added luxury and although the weather wasn’t great for us we still took full of advantage of the hot tub in rain or shine, the views are beautiful and it is just so peaceful! Sara & ozgur are always there if you need them! I wanted to add something about the bed because oh my you will not want to get out of it!! We slept with the blind open slightly so that in the morning we had the view of the country side and every morning it was more beautiful to wake up to! The cottage is so cosy and relaxing you will not want to leave! We are already looking to book again! The area is ideal, you are close to so many beaches and the beautiful Jurassic coast. Can’t wait until next time!!

For a cottage that will accommodate 4 people, there were only 2 chairs in the garden.

The garden was overgrown and had an upturned wheelbarrow as a back gate which our dog nearly lept over. There was no welcome information left for us which would have been nice. There was an innocuous looking basket on the floor in the sitting room which contained some details about the local area - we didn't notice this until the last evening of our stay. This would have been better served if it were left by the visitor book. It would have been nice to have some history of the cottage i.e. age, original use, old photos etc. This could have been made as a wall hanging or even just some laminated sheets left on the table for occupants to read. The bolt off the bottom half of the stable door was missing which meant we couldn't leave it open for ventilation as the dog would dissappear into the insecure garden. The cottage has potential but the owners need to invest more time & effort into it

Very steep stairs to first floor and steep stairs to main bedroom not mentioned in property details although uneven floors are which is good.

The property should not be described as having 2 bathrooms as there is only one bathroom and a very small en-suite shower room. Very disappointing to find that the pub mentioned in the details is closed which was very inconvenient as we’d planned to eat there and having to do food shops took time out of our holiday. Having said all that the cottage was well equipped with quality white goods and oven and the bedding was spotless. The milk and bread which was provided for our arrival was most welcome and a lovely surprise to find. We didn’t use the garden but it was exceptionally pretty and had lots of birds which was pleasing. I would like to suggest that a hairdryer would be a very useful item to offer. All in all a great little cottage in an extremely quiet area close to A303 and A30 and considering the cottage is terraced there was no noise nuisance from any of the other cottages.
