The property was lovely and offered us a perfect place to enjoy Lyme.
The facilities at the property were also excellent. Unfortunately we did experience a few problems and this is where things were let down - this isnât the fault of the property owner. We had a number of issues that I tried to raise with the holiday company but all apart from the wasps nest in the roof above the patio door were ignored - and this took a few days despite the website saying 24/7 support. The very slow running drainage from the bathroom sinks has clearly been raised by other visitors but has not been addressed. The skylight catches a lot of flies in spider webs - these then regularly drop on the island which makes eating and food prep there a risky and unpleasant business. Clearly these are not vacuumed in between stays which would have addressed the issue. The general cleaning also had some issues with crumbs and bits in the rugs and we cleaned the place on our first full day to address this. We were also relaxing on Saturday morning and a maintenance person decided to try and let themselves into the property - no knocking. Fortunately we had a key in the door which meant they had to knock. I found this a gross invasion of privacy. It was just to change over a kettle despite us having a working one. To put this into context, a few years ago we stayed at the property behind and our young son had left his favourite DVD in the apartment. The holiday company would not contact the following holidaymakers as they said it would be an unacceptable intrusion into their holiday, but somehow it was deemed OK to just attempt to walk in to an occupied holiday let! Again this complaint was ignored. We had a few other small issues, all of which I raised on multiply occasions and all of which were ignored. It also took a few weeks to get our holiday deposit back which took chasing. We have been staying at properties booked through Lyme Bay Holidays for nearly 20 years and were extremely disappointed by the lack of response to our numerous concerns. It was hardly a cheap holiday and I have no doubt the owner of the property is charged a sizeable management fee that they may wish to question.

Excellent location, faultless.
Our 2nd time here and overall really enjoy it. Lyme Regis itself is a lovely town, clean and well maintained by the Council As noted in the guest book the previous rentals found the patio parasol broken and they left it under the table. We managed to fix it However, For the cost of the holiday I do think there should be:- A TV in at least one of the bedrooms as I mentioned last time A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries not just the window sill The ceiling bulb in the 2nd bedroom has still not been replaced or the light is not working as was the case in October '23 The main bed is very firm, perhaps too firm for some guests The pillows were hard also The sheet is not a fitted one and does not stay in place. Consequently within minutes rucks up and becomes very tangled and uncomfortable There is still no obvious instructions as to how to dispose of food waste. There is no waste disposal in the sink and both dustbins say 'no food waste' on the lids. Finally there is a real lack of privacy from other guests in the house above as they make their way past the cottage to and from the beach. Some sort of screening would be of a real benefit

Dear Sykes, We stayed last week, and were astonished to find a cleaner had opened the front door and was standing across the street.
There was a timid dog inside, which could have runaway. The reason she was there a day early was because on your website, it states bookings are for one week. However, it appears that you had only booked us for six nights! Do you even offer that as an option? Even if I had made an error in this, why did no one get in touch to check? Very poor service. The house was okay, although there was no booklet of instructions for oven bins etc. Again, annoying. There was a broken blind and a light bulb in the down stairs bedroom, and the garden was a bit of a mess. To add insult to injury you actually charged me an extra £260 for one night, although one nice gentleman said it would be £20. I am shocked to have to pay that much as you donât rent out your cottages for one night only, so you would not have been renting it out on Thursday anyway! This is disgraceful profiteering, and I think a compromise could I have been reached. I am asking you to reconsider and refund me the £260, less the £20 I was told. Your current good name will not last if you treat your guests so harshly, Your sincerely, Stephanie Groves

We had a really enjoyable and relaxing stay here.
I was a little concerned about a couple of comments re maintenance, but the whole property has been recently redecorated throughout and is in excellent condition. All of the rooms are larger than they appear in the photos and there was plenty of space for eight of us, and the level of equipment was impressive. The cottage was warm and cosy, and the beds comfortable. Of course there is a pub opposite, live music on the Friday night and a NYE party, but the noise dies down after 11 and did not worry us. The owners are having some work done in the garden (which we did not use) and hopefully they will upgrade the whole outside space. Just a few comments/suggestions (all minor things) - The front door was sticking (due to the wet weather) and we struggled to open it from the inside on a couple of occaisions - this needs addressing urgently - the locks and key safe could do with replacing also - The TV remote was not working properly and needs replacing As I said all minor things and easy to rectify, but we would absolutely return here. Thanks for a great stay!

This converted bungalow has two large bedrooms and a bathroom with shower upstairs.
Thereâs also one single bedroom and a twin bedded room downstairs. The twin bedded room really is the only negative point in this house, there is a brick wall very close to the windows which makes the room seem enclosed and dim. I would suggest converting this room into a utility room. I strongly suggest you install a light in front of the garage entrance in the garden. The freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer are in there. I tripped down the stone steps when I went to get something from the freezer. I was stopped by the fence but scraped my heel and got a fright. There is a light outside the sitting room but it doesnât extend that far. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well equipped and a pleasure to cook in, the art works around the house were lovely and the small garden was beautifully laid out and a delight to use. The Wi-Fi and smart tv were excellent and the information folder was very useful and full of thoughtful details.
