What our customers say about their holidays

    • India - Verified booking

There was no communication beforehand about where the parking permit would be.

It would help to just mention that it's in the accommodation on arrival. It was a right faff parking, collecting the keys, driving to accommodation, trying to park, getting the door open – and making sure it was the right one – and getting into the property through the lobby and up the metal stairs. Your W3W on the email was wrong. Had we known about the faff getting in, going through the lobby, through the bin area and up steps to the place, we wouldn't have booked. Why not have a keysafe nearby? The stairs were deadly and my mother and child had to go down on their bottoms! It does mention quirky stairs on listing but it doesn't give the impression of just how bad they are! Would definitely not have booked if had known. Only suitable for fit adults who don't drink alcohol. There's not enough seating for four people in the living space either, the WiFi code in the book was wrong and the TV requires an engineering degree to work. We stripped the beds but completely forgot to take the rubbish out (sorry), we did take the recycling home with us though. Hopefully that was ok but when you're paying £200 a night you don't expect to be a housekeeper too. We did leave it tidy as that is normal but I object to working on holiday – stripping the beds and emptying all the bins. There are a lot of rules here and I suspect it's the impact of AirBnB (who I don't use). We were staying two nights, checking in on Sunday evening, and the accommodation info said I had to take the bins out for collection on the Monday morning. So I got up at 6am to do this as I presume you can't leave them overnight but I could not find them at all as all the bins outside were for the restaurant. There was a locked shed but otherwise I presumed that because of the dates of our stay, the cleaners would have dealt with the waste on changeover so I gave up and went back to bed. I would have phoned the office but they're only open in office hours obviously so no point. Had no contact from LBH during our stay. Oh and finally, the light in the entrance had gone and it was roasting hot. We turned the radiators off but there must be an override as it made absolutely no difference so we just had to open the windows and let all the heat out. Bonkers! Overall, great location, it was clean, but really disappointing stay and wouldn't come again.

      WATERSMEET.

The property was well located, the view from the balcony was brilliant, furniture was comfortable and the whole place was clean and tidy. There was everything supplied that we needed. The only complaints we had were; 1. One of the ovens wasn't working, drawing a cross on the control knob with a marker pen should have been backed-up with a notice telling people it didn't work, though getting it fixed would be a better option, feeding a group of six with only one oven caused problems. 2. The 'Local Information' book needs to be kept up-dated. The cinema 'showing all the latest releases' burnt down before Covid, and the 'Children's Animal Farm' at Abbotsbury (which we visited) closed during Covid and has never re-opened. 3. The entrance-way and stairwell let the place down terribly. The smell of mould and damp and the accumulation of feathers and rubbish we had to step over to get in the door was off-putting to say the least. If mesh screens were fitted to the window frames to keep the pesky seagulls out, at least the windows could be opened when the cleaners are there. On the plus side, our grandchildren gave the spiders in the stairway names and said good morning every-time we went out. 4. Several of the bed-side lights and the standard lamp in the lounge, have either faulty connections or loose bulbs, they flickered on and off, this may seem a small point, but for people who like to read in bed, it became impossible to do so. On the whole, Lyme Regis was well worth the visit, with excellent restaurants and shops, brilliant 'chippie' and a great buzz within the town and waterfront. We would return.

This property has an amazing location and Lyme is lovely.

The property has plenty of space but is in total need of a bit of TLC throughout. The front door and communal entrance is shabby at best - the carpet and paintwork are in bad repair. The street entrance and immediately inside the front door is dirty and smells. Inside the property itself, the outdoor terrace has an uneven tarmac flooring (which gets very hot), with old furniture and cut wires. The bathroom sink had a plug that did not fit / work well. The ensuite shower rooms were very basic and need updating. The pictures in the hallway were not securely fixed. I had to call for bin bags to be delivered to the flat as there were no spares. The bed frames have parts that are not fixed (ornamental balls at the foot end). In the kitchen the hooks near the hob are old, broken and marked. The weekly fire alarm test went off at 7.50am. The glassware, cutlery and crockery is an eclectic mix, most are old. There are not enough plates, bowls or mugs for a property accommodating this number of people. On our arrival I put some items in the freezer, it became clear within 30 mins that the freezer had been turned off before we got there and it was beginning to defrost - this is not good. All of the appliances were turned off at the socket and messages about turning things off were unwelcoming. It would be good to have some recycling facilities at the property. This could be a really solid holiday let, but needs some maintenance and investment to get there.

Property is wonderfully located for a stay in Lyme Regis / The Jurassic Coast.

We passed lots of lovely hours sitting at the breakfast bar/ window watching the ocean - beautiful! Clearly lots of thought and effort had gone into equipping The Lookout with amenities to ensure a successful holiday - the kitchen in particular had literally everything gadget / appliance you could ask for, and the TV set up was impressive! The welcome gift bag was a generous and thoughtful addition - thank you! In terms of feedback for improvements, the bed & mattress in the main bedroom (with ensuite) desperately needs replacing. I'm an average/athletic build chap (ie. Not overweight) but sleeping on the left side of the bed, I could literally feel the slats under my spine. The shower also needs a repair to allow it to be run colder - a hot shower isn't always welcomed after a long walk on a summer day! Finally, the listing should be more explicit re: the parking situation. Cobb Lane is a VERY steep hill about 1/4mile long, with the car park at the top, and the property at the bottom. You can only pay for 24hours at a time, so recommend using JustPark app to add more time each day rather than walking back and forth! (Also, £15 per day for parking soon mounts up. Maybe there's a deal to be struck with the owners of Undercliffe parking?)

I'm not a person to complain but I was disappointed I'm afraid.

The microwave had not been cleaned, there were bits of food inside. There were dirty footprints in the shower and the carpets did not appear to have been vacuumed. The small towel that was left in the bathroom was dirty, and there were no refuse bags in the apartment to put any rubbish. Worst of all, the flat had a very large number of carpet/clothes moths emerging from the carpets in every room, which caused us to have to keep all our clothes in our cases at all times, to stop cross infestation of our own homes on our return. This spoilt the relaxation aspect of our holiday, as we were constantly having to be aware of where we were putting and storing our clothes. I am now in the process of washing and sterilising all of my clothes, both worn and unworn, to stop any infestation, along with all of my bags and suitcase. Also, the sofa was very uncomfortable to sit on . We had to sit on cushions because it was so hard. The handle on the patio door in the bedroom was so close to the frame that I caught my fingers in it several times when closing it. It also appeared that the bathroom extractor fan did not remove any condensation, and it looked as though the slats were closed on it. This left the bathroom very damp and humid.
