The house is very well appointed, the bed comfortable, the shower powerful and hot.
Cooking facilities and equipment generally excellent. Given itâs new Iâd give the following feedback and hope itâs helpful going forward. Quilt tog of 15 was far too hot even after we turned the radiator off for the following 4 days. A full length mirror in the landing or in bedroom would be useful. Wi-Fi code info needs to be in brochure as would how to open bedroom windows as I didnât fathom this either. It would be nice to include an initial bag of logs⦠if you arrive at 4/5 or later itâs not ideal to go looking and a real fire is part of the attraction⦠or provide for a small charge? A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries would be useful⦠otherwise people will put stuff on window cill and the paint will quickly be marked. Some baking sheets would also be useful ⦠the pie dishes were fine to put things in but again will be marked very quickly ⦠as I found them not easy to get all marks off even with a good dose of elbow grease. There is a leak from next doors waste pipe out the back and this gives a constant slapping sound which is irritating at night. And finally we would suggest being more clear about the tightness of access and egress from the cottage in a medium to large vehicle⦠we found it a challenge in our Kia Nero especially if the bins are not pulled right in⦠even worse in the dark. But these did not distract from a great time in a fab location⦠just might be worth consideration for the futureâ¦. We walked everyday from the property without using the car⦠did cat bells, round the lake, latrigg fell and the railway line to Threlkeld. In the car we went to borrowdale, bassenthwaite, and buttermere. Great hearty food at the dog and gun⦠goulash is huge! And tasty. Best meal a tFellpack⦠modern dining. Great selection of beers at the crafty baa.. and very filling sharing platter. Tourist information office full of very helpful staff, ideas for walks and guide maps at £1.25 for about 5/6 walks from the town. Highly recommend a stay. Many thanks

An excellent property.
I stayed there on my own as a convenient base in Keswick for a trail running holiday. The Old Hayloft is perfect and fantastically well presented. Spotlessly clean and tidy. Well stocked and comfortable, plus a lovely hot shower and super warm bathroom. I would highly recommend this place. Seriously brilliant view from the front door of Skiddaw and a lovely cafe 30 seconds from the front door, chippy the same and you could go to the pub in your slippers!!! The only drawback is on Fridays and Saturdays the pub next door plays loud live music until midnight. However a decent pair of earplugs remedies that perfectly, and the music isnât too bad!! I wasnât too bothered. I had one hiccup in the flat and it was sorted the next day promptly with minimum inconvenience, so very good customer service. If I have one minor issue it was the water tank, it makes a bit of a noise around 1:30am and woke me a few times, but it really was a minor issue, depends how lightly you sleep. All in all I had a lovely, comfortable holiday with easy, friendly, prompt customer service. Will definitely be back with my partner next time. Thanks for a fun week.

Thank you for a lovely stay.
The property is beautiful and we loved the original features and character. And the view...! The house was in a great location although the road (and associated noise) was much closer than we had realised at the time of booking. There was also a very musty smell on arrival. We opened all the windows but unfortunately we could not clear it from the main bedrooms at the right hand end of the property for the duration of the stay. Midway during the week we found a hedgehog in the cattle grid. We lifted it out and called a local hedgehog rescue centre who kindly came out to the house. They reassured us that it was a healthy uninjured female, possibly with young, and we put her back in the garden. They suggested that we ask you to consider putting a brick ramp (or similar) into the bottom of the grate to avoid it happening again - apparently it's quite a common problem with cattle grids! Anyway, thank you again for a lovely stay. It is an area of the Lakes we have not visited before and we will definitely return. Best wishes, Philippa

Friendly & helpful staff in the Lakes Cottages office in Keswick who gave us some useful advice when we picked up the keys regarding some roadworks near to the house that we were renting for 4 days.
The house was absolutely superb and provided 8 of us with a home from home for 3 excellent days celebrating a family 60th birthday - perhaps the only slight criticism is that the house was much better equipped than described. The kitchen in particular was very well equipped and has absolutely everything that 8 people would need to live permanently in the house. The Library has a load of books, games and jigsaws (which several of us did on the floor in front of the great log burner in the upstairs lounge) and the magnificent view of Skiddaw across the valley from most of the rooms is a joy to behold. A simple half mile walk into Braithwaite (remember to bring a torch as the road is completely unlit) for a choice of pubs but special mention must go to the Royal Oak - great food, friendly staff and an excellent atmosphere. We would love to go back!

Property was spotless, well maintained and a pleasure to stay in.
Not far from the town but not so close that it was passed by lots of traffic. Nothing bad to say about the property at all. One thing I would like to mention is that the patio furniture was in need of some care. A number of the chairs were broken in some way. This didn't cause us a problem but could be problematic for bigger parties as some of the chairs had broken backs or crucial fixtures that were coming loose. Could do with replacing as I think the weather has taken its toll on them. This in no way impacted our stay but I felt this should be mentioned so it can be addressed for future parties. I would recommend Cloud End to anyone looking for a place to stay that's close to Keswick and surrounding areas. Would definitely return here for future breaks!
