What our customers say about their holidays

    • Matthew - Verified booking

Really lovely cottage which was very clean and looked like it had been recently tastefully decorated.

Fantastic location close to all the lovely restaurants and bars and more widely all the attractions of Christchurch and surrounding area. The only negative comment I’d make is that the bedrooms are set up to sleep 6 however we had 5 of us, our 3 kids are all adult-sized teenagers now and we found it a squash downstairs. There is really only space for 4 people downstairs - 4 round the table and only space for 4 on the sofas- someone had to sit on a plastic garden chair which obviously isn’t very comfy and it was a real tight squeeze, they were sat in the access way through to the kitchen so no one could come and go. It’s difficult to gauge size from the photos on the website. It’s perfect for a group of 4 I’d say.

The property has been recently refurbished.

The walls have been painted. New carpets have been put in upstairs. The bathroom was clean and bright. The beds were very comfortable. The wifi was fast. The kitchen was well-equipped (and had lots of things that not all cottages have, e.g. cling film, foil, salt, pepper, plus plenty of cutlery and utensils). The property overlooks a public car park, so we did hear some noise in the car park on the weekend from people returning late at night to their cars. But this was a minor inconvenience given how well situated the property is for the high street in Christchurch and all of its shops and restaurants. We very much enjoyed our stay and would consider returning if we fancied being in the same part of the country again.

The property was filthy on our arrival with only half the beds made.

My wife spent the first night and morning cleaning the house to ensure it was hygienic enough for a baby. The bins hadn't been put out for weeks so we had no where to store the rubbish until bin day. The property is actually very good with a good location. The thing that let it down was the cleanliness and basic items missing. It would be great if you could put in an iron and ironing board. I wouldnt let with Sykes cottages if I were the owner, I found that most of the things that frustrated me were conversations with Sykes who didn't communicate with the owner or with the person letting. This then exacerbated the issues.

What a wonderful cottage, it had everything we needed and more.

The weather for our stay was beautiful so we could make use of the seating area outside in the early evening after a day out and the sun was perfectly positioned. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and everything in the property was clean and well maintained. The area itself had everything we needed so we didn't venture far away. Beautiful walk along the harbour and river with lots of hidden history. We had a couple of questions during our stay and the host of the property was extremely helpful we honestly could not have asked for more and we will definitely be coming back here again.

We had an excellent stay in the house and it was all furnished to a high standard and very clean on arrival.

There was only 2 of us but a big space for a family and two bathrooms and one downstairs w/c. The outside area was also a bonus and the car space is a luxury in Poole and easy to goi out and return. . The property is overlooking the quay which is a nice and bustling area with plenty going on. Lots of boat trips around the area. Poole itself has many bars, pubs and restaurants all within 10 minutes walk. The old town is lovely although a small area. I would highly recommend this house to friends and family and would not hesitate to book again if staying in the area.
