"This property is old and tired. Far too much old furniture. Who has a chaise in the toilet, and a great big pink velour chair next to the toilet in the upstairs bathroom, very unhygenic!.The position of the cottage is excelent, however the windows are filthy, and painted shut. The bins are full in the yard, the maintenance staff should pop round on the correct day and get them emptied, I'm afraid I'm not prepared to stagger down the alley with other people's rubbish.Be aware when having a shower. If someone else runs the water when you are in the shower the water will come through very hot.The duvet needs replacing in main bedroom, and some of the cruddy pillows. There was various bits and pieces under the furniture, so not sure how thorough the clean between letting. On arrival downstairs smelt of sewage. They are saniflo toilets and had probably been left unattended.Good points are the towels, and the kitchen is stocked sufficiently. There is a light in the back yard (no one would want to sit out there) and at night it is constantly going on and off. The blind in the upstairs bathroom is broken, so we tried to cover the window, so that the friend in the downstairs was not driven mad by it going on and off.Speaking of the third bedroom, it is stuffed with furniture, and the only way to pull the curtain is to climb up onto the top bunk.I believe that the television downstairs doesn't work. Most importantly NO INTERNET!The cottage needs a good overhaul, and a good clean, so that when you have driven all day, you feel you are pleased at your choice, not going round seeing dust and smells!"

"Our week staying at Windy View is probably one of the best weeks we have ever had staying in a rented cottage. All the facilities were excellent. If anything...the photos on the website were misleading because there was an abundance of space which wasn't clear to see on the photos. It would have been more helpful to indicate that there was a separate dining room and we sat in there more often than the lounge. The enclosed garden was first class. It meant that we could feel confident that our dog wouldn't stray when we left the door open. The views from the cottage were glorious and there was very little traffic noise even as we weren't far from the A1. One of the best equipped cottages too. I can't think of anything that would have further enhanced our visit. The little room where the boiler was situated doubled up as an excellent drying room. It was great that we were only minutes away from Alnmouth and its superb beach where the dog thoroughly enjoyed herself. A supermarket might have been welcome but Alnwick is only 10 minutes or so down the road so not a disaster. Yes! value for money and we would definitely think of returning to Windy View. Thank you for a lovely location."

"Firstly we had a lovely week in Northumberland and Limpet Cottage played its part in making that so. The beachside location is great, the cottage was clean and very well equipped for two people. Linen, furnishings, etc all very nice.We were grateful to the owners for leaving a few gifts for us and this was commented upon in the Visitors Book by others - a nice personal touch.Only downsides were lack of direct lighting by a mirror in the bathroom, just the one overhead light. A cabinet light did not work. Secondly a double bed can be ok but the Sleigh bed with a solid footboard does rather cramp some folks for length. Both points do not constitute a deal breaker but would make life easier.A local bonus came in the form of meals taken at the Fishing Boat Inn, just a minute's walk. Great value and some lovely food albeit in fairly standard pub surroundings but offset by the view and really nice staff. We would definitely recommend Limpet Cottage."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Windy View. Very well equipped holiday cottage, even the kindling, logs and fuel were supplied for the log burner; it was comfortable, warm and relaxing, and more spacious then we had envisaged, large comfortable sitting room and well appointed large dining room which was a plus this more than made up for the galley kitchen, however this worked ok for us, don't plan on cooking three course meals, this is a holiday cottage! Kitchen ideal for cooking breakfast and preparing ready made meals from the local supermarkets; it does have a full size gas cooker and hob, excellent fridge and microwave, it worked extremely well for us. Lovely garden, very well cared for, enclosed and safe for dogs, brilliant outdoor eating and barbecue area, with fantastic views over the surrounding Northumbria countryside, during our stay we watched hares leaping around in the adjacent fields, spectacular!"

"An excellent time and a lovely cottage exactly where I wanted but I think a few things should be mentioned:1. No mention was made of the lack of parking until I received the final instructions. Luckily, we managed to find a space somewhere in the village every night but it was September. I can imagine that in the summer, finding a space would be well nigh impossible.2. There was broken glass and crumbs amongst the plates that had been laid out on the table for our arrival3. The internet worked for my iPad and for my iPhone, it wouldn't work for my partner's iPhone or for a Mac laptop. Having tried to sort out the problem, I've discovered that BT Hubs are notorious in this respect so maybe the owner should consider a proper router ?None of that spoilt our stay and apart from those things, we had a very nice time."
