Be welcomed by the beautiful exterior of this property, one where a backdrop of scenic landscapes create a sense of wonder as you park off-road and unpack with ease, noticing the picturesque cottage style gardens and mature trees framing the property, a place where you will be able to picnic in the sunshine in the warmer months. Separated by a brick wall with an open archway, the kitchen/diner and sitting room both boast traditional wooden ceilings with roof beams and wooden flooring adding a sense of history to this space, and the open nature of the kitchen/diner adds a homely feel that will entice any budding chef to cook up a storm which can be enjoyed in the dining area. On the ground floor you will discover a bathroom where you can enjoy a warming soak amongst the bubbles before settling down for the night in one of the three bedrooms, a ground-floor double with storage, a ground-floor twin perfect for children and for the third bedroom, ascend the quirky spiral staircase to find a double bedroom with tall ceilings punctuated by wooden beams and a handy en-suite. Alnmouth is a fantastic seaside town, and you will be delighted to find that, through a selection of countryside walks, the local beach is only a short walk from the property. From here, you can begin the coastal path which follows the rugged coastline to Beadnell, a 13 mile walk through a selection of breath-taking scenery. The town itself offers a selection of heart-warming pubs and restaurants for you to enjoy, as well as England’s Oldest 9 Hole Links Golf Course! Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. Lack of hot water was sorted by Stu during his courtesy visit, thank you. As there was so much attention needed to this property especially the soiled mattresses I feel the owner should be prepared to compensate us.

I took a torch with me as indicated on the instructions for arriving but this wasn’t enough.

Other reviews have mentioned slow internet and poor water pressure which is definitely true but did not in any way spoil our holiday. However, the cleanliness was not of a high standard and it felt like the house had only been surface cleaned especially after dropping something and looking under the sofas! The fridge and freezer were a little bit problematic but the clothes pulley was great for airing and drying clothing. Overall,a great house which need some TLC but sadly we would not return again next year.
