When the food is ready to serve up, there is the formal dining room all ready to greet guests with a warming woodburning stove helping to make a great focal point to the room and is somewhere you can imagine spending many happy hours putting the world to rights, drinking, dining and enjoying each other’s company. If the weather allows, then there is a small but perfectly formed sunny courtyard garden where you can carry on the party outside. At bedtime, there are five wonderfully appointed bedrooms to choose from; two super-king-sizes, two king-sizes and a single. All are equally well presented and offer a restful place to lay your weary heads so that in the morning you’ll be refreshed and raring to go, ready to explore the delights of Alnmouth which is within a short walk where you will find a good selection of shops and eateries as well as a golf course and miles of sandy beaches. Take a short drive to Alnwick, famous for its castle and gardens, or drive a little further to attractions such as Hadrian’s Wall, Howick Hall and Gardens, Dunstanburgh Castle and Northumberland Country Zoo. Take a boat trip over to the Farne Islands where you might catch sight of an unusual bird or seal. If you love wildlife, then you’ve come to the right place with RSPB reserves at Annstead Dunes and Hauxley Wildlife Discovery Centre. Activities worth having a go at while you’re here include golf at Alnmouth Golf Club, horse-riding at Slate Hall Riding Centre, surfing at Bamburgh Castle Beach and sailing at Beadnell Sailing Club. Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.
