"Whilst we enjoyed our holiday we think that with a few improvements to the cottage, it could be great and well worth the 4 stars it portrays to be. Firstly we noticed the floors were still wet from where the floors had been cleaned but nothing else seemed to have been. From the amount of cobwebs and spiders around the house, we presume it hadn't been dusted for sometime and had to clear these ourselves. We noticed light bulbs weren't working - perhaps these should be checked at change over. The double bed is very small and the pillows very uncomfortable. We ended up sleeping in the twin which wouldn't have been our first choice for sleeping arrangements. A guide to some local walks wouldnt go a miss as although braithwaite is only a 20 minute walk away, it is through a forest which has some tricky paths and not really suitable to walking in darkness. (Say after dinner from the pub) That said the kitchen and living room are very nice and well equipped."

"This is a lovely spacious house with the feel of a comfy home. We were a party of 5 adults and there was plenty of room to spread around. The location is private but close enough to all the Lake District has to offer, with walks on the doorstep and fantastic views, we saw a wide variety of birds in the garden, including woodpeckers. It is clean and well equipped. To be helpful the cattle grid outside the property is noisy and walkers pass close by the house, these blended into the background for us and we didn't find they distracted from our holiday. The instructions for the cooker and how to deal with the rubbish were confusing and could do with updating. I think anyone booking this property will be glad they did, we had a fantastic time and may well return again in the future."

"Lovely cottage in the most perfect location! Close to popular walks such as Skiddaw, Derwentwater and Buttermere. The cottage was the perfect base to return home to after a long, wet walk. It is cosy and felt safe, although probably on the small side for any more than 2 guests - as a couple, we found it just right. There is no dishwasher so we found some cutlery and utensils were not properly washed, not sure if this is the fault of the previous guests or the cleaning staff, but would expect clean utensils to be a minimum requirement. Overall, Alvamere is the perfect spot for a walking holiday and a cosy place to return home to to rest your tired feet. We would happily return!"

"We had a splendid family holiday staying at Century House: it was our 3rd holiday there in recent years. The property fully lives up to its upbeat description on the website and has every amenity a family would require for the stay.My only quibble- which I raised after our last stay there-is that there is no broad white line painted on the road to indicate that people should not park across the driveway. On one day, when we returned from a trip to Hawkshead, there was a car fully blocking the entrance. The driver was in the vehicle and unapologetically claimed not to have seen that it was a driveway when he stopped there. Can this please be sorted?"

"Everything was brilliant, lovely flat great location wonderful views from the windows, a good parking bay, the only thing that let it down was that the internet access via talk talk was rubbish. 4 days we had no access at all it was down the other days there wasn’t even enough bandwidth to run the apps on my iPad, which was frustrating as I needed to work first thing in the morning and in the evenings, if that gets sorted out and they get a proper provider like Virgin then it would have been the perfect location. These days good internet access is vital to working professionals and lack of proper access really left us very frustrated."
