"This is a great cottage in a good location for accessing Keswick and the surrounding hills. The cottage was clean, tidy and well decorated with most things in good condition. As regulars staying in cottages it was pleasing to have a well equipped kitchen and especially welcome to find sharp knives. The lounge was homely and the wood burner a lovely addition especially in winter. Had it been warm enough the outside space and picnic table would have been a real treat ( we will come back in summer)There were some nice touches- the desk and reading area, suggestions of where to go/what to do and some lovely pictures and photos on the walls. It felt homely. We had 4 adults staying in the house and although it sleeps 6 we felt it would be a squeeze with any more people (downstairs and especially in the lounge and kitchen). The bedrooms were however all good sized and the bathrooms too.We found the sofas to be a bit too slouchy and all would have perferrred a more supportive seat and maybe a foot stool or two. The lack of designated parking is a bit of a bind but most evenings we secured a spot not too far away. Overall Vergers Cottage is one of our favourite finds in 15 years of staying in the Lakes and we will book again!"

"Great location, but the apartment is overdue refurbishment, its a bit scruffy, poor lighting in the bedrooms and bathrooms, which are down stairs, in a lower ground floor/basement. The bathrooms are a bit tired and they are very dark. The kitchen cabinet around the boiler has been taken out and refitted very badly, so looks scruffy. We could not get the TV to work in Smart mode possible as its an old TV, but the Wifi is good and quick. One of the towels was very smelly too, and two of the pillows had holes in them. The worst bit about the apartment are the beds, and this has been said before by a number of guests, but the beds are simple terrible. If you stay, plan not to sleep well....In summary, the apartment has great potential, if it had a few pounds invested in new mattresses and a bit of a refurbishment. Its is marketed as a 4 star apartment, which I would disagree with, in it current condition."

"As pensioners, one with walking difficulties, we chose this bungalow as being suitably disability friendly. We found it met our needs and was cosy and comfortable. Stunning views from the property and central for car trips to all the beautiful valleys and fells of the Lake District. Central heating warmed the house quickly when we returned from our day trips.Well and sensibly equipped (radiators under the coat hooks in lobby were especially useful after rainy walks!)We had a lovely week. Quite a bit of rain but lots of sunny spells between so no days were wasted. And the changing weather added to the drama of the scenery.Almost impossible to get two, even modest sized, cars in drive if you want to get out unscathed! We had to put one car on pavement outside being very careful not to cause problems for neighbouring houses."

"We really enjoyed our stay even though we arrived in the snow. The wood burning stove soon made the cottage cosy. The owners have made the best of what they have. Beautifully decorated throughout and very comfortable - especially the sofas and bed. Many holiday cottages have faux leather seating which is so uncomfortable. These sofas made a welcome change. We both slept really well and the cottage was warm enough even though the weather was very cold. Well located for local walks and also within easy walking distance of Keswick. The kitchen had everything we needed. The stairs were rather steep and it was a pain having to go downstairs to the loo in the middle of the night but that was a minor issue and would not put us off using this cottage again."

"Lovely house & position with great views from the front and rear of the house.Only 11mins stroll to market square,25 mins to lake and 10mins to The Pheasant pub. Also has a well stocked SPAR supermarket & Garage about 2 mins from front door. The only complaints would be is that one of the front bedside lamps doesn't work (I did check the bulb) and the radio on the portable stereo in the living room doesn't work either.I thought I would use the radio on the television but there is no radio channels on this. Finally we were surprised that for how much you pay for this property towels are not provided. This is the only property this has happened (and we have stayed in quite a lot).Taking these into account it is still a very good place to stay and we would return."
