This could be a great property - good room sizes and location/parking.

It is warm and bed linen/property was mostly clean. It is let down by poor decoration with a plethera of nails/screws in the wall; the moth situation in front bedroom; unused curtain tracks left in the lounge; uncomfortable and broken seating particularly in lounge which moves as you sit in; mis matched furniture and crockery which give a jumble sale vibe - 2 tumblers that don't match; dinner plates which are too big for the dishwasher and only 3 uncracked mugs are the start. An apple corer and home made burger maker are not needed. Milk saucepan, wooden or silicone spoons, grater and whisk, baking tray and measuring jug much more appreciated. Other improvements could be smaller tables in the lounge where you need them to put coffee on, and comfortable seating that won't go flying as you sit down! The bedding in back bedroom is in poor condition and needs replacing. Both beds are really firm and the back room could do with matching minimal furniture and a headboard. We presume owner knew about the broken dining chair in the kitchen as it was wedged in by the wall. We discovered it on the first day as we swept the floor. The owners needs to ensure that there is enough crockery/glasses for 4 people - we would say 2 mugs each. A potentially super property but needs an overhaul. Anthony's comments earlier in September are totally accurate. Heartbreaking as this property could be so excellent with some updates.

Sykes responded to our requests promptly and efficiently.

However, there were a number of issues with the property that should be addressed given it is a 4 tick property. The main concern was the cleanliness. The lounge carpet is filthy. I accept it is a rural location but I have photos of the dirt and stains on the carpet. I really do recommend the carpet is cleaned or the flooring is replaced with slate or tile. The house was clean on the first inspection but as I moved furniture and items around it was apparent that it was not given a thorough clean eg underneath the sofa to retrieve toys or breadcrumbs under the marble chopping board. I thought the bathrooms were fantastic and clean. The other niggle was the main kitchen bin was broken so the clip lid was not working and had to be prised open and shut. I called and asked for it to be replaced. It was replaced with a bin with no lid which is equally inappropriate as this would then expose the contents and smell of the bin in the kitchen. I loved the location and the kitchen was well equipped but I do think the cleanliness and replacement of broken items took the polish off the property. Despite the above, my family and I had a wonderful holiday in the lakes and Sykes contributed to making this happen.

      Great location,stunning views.

Plenty of space although no clothes storage /wardrobe in the twin bedded room for some reason (??). Spotlessly clean (credit to the cleaners), comfortable super king-sized bed too. Needs a few little details to be addressed-e.g. door stop behind front door needs replacing to stop damage to wall (plasterwork was already damaged) and same for the door on to the patio area. Noticed also that the kickboard along units below cooker was actually UNATTACHED and fell off easily-needs securing asap. Would also help to have privacy glass or curtain on the front door, especially at night when lights are on. Information leaflets- located in the understairs cupboard- need updating (some were from 2018!). Some damp stains on ceiling near some of the the Velux windows too which should be dealt with before serious damage to ceilings etc.Just sorting out those little things would make a huge difference and keep the property "fresh".Noted that previous renters have made similar comments but nothing seems to have been done to address identified issues - and at these prices, why not? Needs a little bit of TLC.

We thought that the Cottage (The Dairy) was better than we’d expected! The photos didn’t do it justice ….. So was bigger than we’d expected, plenty of room for us two also we had two guest one day and still weren’t cramped! The views were to die for especially in the mornings when all of the animals came to say hello. So peaceful and tranquil (except when the builders arrived working on the place next door)! We expected a Welcome Pack! We have had one everywhere else we’ve been everything from bacon and eggs, bread, cake, milk and tea…..to just the basic tea, coffee, milk, eggs! But that didn’t bother us to much, but it did irk that not even salt/pepper, or cooking oil was left! Everywhere has that! Also everything exactly counted to 4 cups plates ( dinner plates were not very nice, showing cracks in the glaze ) ! But we managed with all of these little niggles as the Cottage itself is just gorgeous! Just make sure that you take EVERYTHING! Oh we were left a jay cloth to use in the kitchen WELL a it was a reduced in size cut into thirds we thought! Who does that?

      A nice house badly maintained.

Our main problem being badly affected by an outbreak of moths , We noticed a few flying about when we arrived but in days they were on the beds, towels and all over the upstairs the front bedroom being worst. We purchased the best spray recomend and it was very good, over 30 dead on one window ledge alone. Tried to phone owners and got no answer, l left a message but got no reply. By the time we were coming home the problem was getting going again. I wrote a note and left it on the table, but never heard anything more. I expect at least an apology. No cleaning material was left for us. I had brought some wipes and j clothes and did my best to remove the mold from the shower rail. I get the impression that the place probably started off clean at the beginning of the year as your feedback for early on was good but without any cleaning material people just didn't bother and the house was too big to keep clean during the stopover. A lovely house in an ideal spot, would l go again definitely NO. I feel sorry for the people booked to go and hope you will get it sorted.
