What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lee - Verified booking

We have just come back from a lovely stay in Bobbin Mill Cottage and it was absolutely perfect!

" On arrival we were greeted by the lovely owners who explained everything to make our stay as comfortable as possible and the welcome pack of Tea, Coffee, Milk and Biscuits was a lovely thought so a big thankyou for that! The Cottage is situated in a tiny hamlet well away from noise and light pollution and with exceptional facilities including a safe haven for our Mini Schnauzer Molly - everything you could possibly want for a relaxing comfortable stay. Most evenings were spent sitting on the patio with a glass of wine listening to the birds and the tiny river bubbling away next the us. The village of Crosthwaite is perfectly situated for visiting the Lakes and although there's no longer a village shop, the bustling town of Kendal us only a short drive away for everyday essentials. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday and we're already planning another visit to Bobbin Mill Cottage later this year! Lee, Sarah, Lucy and Molly xx

We stayed in this lovely little cottage, in the middle of Kendal town for 3 days in August.

The cottage has a small living area and a full-equipped kitchen (with little details like biscuits, coffee, tea, a lot of Peter Rabbit books and artefacts) which makes this a lovely cosy cottage for a family of four. There are two bedrooms spread over two floors (a tall house) with two bathrooms and toilets. The beds were freshly washed, clean and was a welcome to tuck into after 8 hours of journey. The place to just a minute's walk from the high street and good to drop into Pizza Express in the evening or the lovely café opposite for a lazy brunch. It is just 15-20 mins drive to Windermere or Ullswater and is a good base for all the activities around Lake District. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this cottage for small families.

Good location for Kendal and the southern lakes.

Well equipped property with most things you would ever need. Main bedroom en-suite shower was not very good. Slow to get warm, poor power and occasionally gave no flow if someone else flushed a toilet or used a tap at the same time. Needs updating really. Had an unresolved problem with the bins. Outside bin was overflowing upon our arrival, so we had nowhere to put anything from our stay. Did get a response from the given contact number to acknowledge this, but still no resolution. Although there is technically parking for 2, this is very tight and challenging to use if all neighbours are in as well. Should be clearer in the description. Overall, we had a good stay despite these issues.

      A home away from home.

A pretty, traditional cottage in an ideal location for exploring Kendal. Very grateful for the thoughtful gestures such as a fresh carton of milk, teabags and a taste of mint cake! The addition of the parking permit was so greatly received too - a very unique and generous feature. The only thing we struggled with was using the oven. We spent about half an hour trying to warm our croissants. Whilst there was a sticker on the oven, we still struggled with 3D heat etc (?) Perhaps you could add a more clear sticker that specifically says Grill, oven and a quick explanation of which dials to turn? Great communication from the host from the moment of booking until the end of our stay.

Just come back from a wonderful stay with our 2 dogs at bobbin mill cottage.

Sue and her husband were lovely hosts meeting us on arrival, showing us round the property and recommend places to visit. The facilities are great - loved all the maps and books provided to plan some beautiful walks. Very cosy place with a beautiful shared garden and stream running through (if you have dogs it’s not enclosed so keep ‘less sensible dogs like our crazy spaniels!’ on lead taking them to the toilet ) it’s around 30mins-1hr drive out from the main villages depending where you visit (Buttermere,Keswick about an hour) but that didn’t bother as at all. Loved being in a quite secluded location. Would come back in a heartbeat
