"cottage let down by uncomfortable lounge seating and poor lighting we herd scratching noises in the roof--may be vermin are getting access . Location first class we shall stay near Helmsley again. there are not enough small plates and mugs for 3 it would be worse if there had been 5 of us"

"Mill house is a lovely, comfortable and cosy cottage. The aga, whilst warm and inviting was a little hot sometimes! We also don't know how to cook with one! It is very easy with the dogs, having an enclosed garden. I found the different levels in the garden a bit tricky, but not a big problem. The location is quiet and peaceful and a short drive into Helmsley, the nicest place in the whole area. The food shops there are interesting and of an excellent quality. We thought the pubs in Helmsley not quite so good- either over-priced or uninteresting. We really liked The Swan in Ampleforth instead. It was a shame that the property didn't have recommendations of where to go, what to do and where to eat out. This might have saved us a lot of time. Overall, a very relaxing holiday."

"Great location and house we are second year visitors. Seating and beds uncomfortable and require updating. Rest of the house amazing."

"We love Mill House. It is so quiet but the setting is idyllic. We stayed here last year and we all wanted to come back again this year because we had such a great time. There is a lot to do in the area if you are, like us, into walking, steam trains, castles, abbeys and wildlife. Mill House had everything we needed and, if we had a question, therre was always someone at the end of the phone to help. We love it. We will be back."

"Mill Cottage is a very peaceful and quintessential property to stay in if you are a family and bringing a dog."

"The cottage was very spacious and garden excellent for dogs. Upstairs was comfortable and facilities very good. However, the living room furniture was not comfortable and in need of a clean. For half the week the maintenance people kept coming in to paint the outside which was annoying. We should have been warned about this."

"Brilliant cottage in perfect setting - we hope to return!"

"We had a wonderful time in this lovely cottage. It is comfortable and homely, in a stunning area for walking and touring Yorkshire. It was such a great cottage to come back to after a day out. Lots of hot water, comfy beds, Aga was fun to cook on and it is very romantic. I have given 8 for comfort and equipment as I think the only improvement would be to update the outside seating/table as this has seen better days and the gardens, both front and back are so lovely to sit in, updated outdoor equipment would be my only improvement."

"Fabulous cottage (house really) - we have stayed here two years running. So peaceful, and set in wonderful countryside. Bird life is amazing. We wanted to stay here again next year - but the 50% rise in price for 2019 takes it well out of our budget range, which is a real shame."

"Great place, though one bed could do with a thick topper as mattress and rigid base a tad too hard. Excellent for dog in enclosed garden, though ours managed to dig up rabbit skelletons or parts thereof every day. Stunning location, not disturbed by abbey visitors over bank holiday week, off road walking opposite cottage, could not ask for better."
    Lynne ‐ 5 May 2018
"Fantastic rental property my only improvement suggestion is regarding the lounge chairs two of which are quite low and not very comfortable. Excellently equipped loved using the Aga, great supply of wood too. Hopefully we will be back !"

"Wish it was possible to fish the river for half a day if this could be arranged would like to book again super holiday"
    Kairon ‐ 4 Apr 2018
"Furniture in living room was uncomfortable and the bed in main bedroom was too hard.A neighbours child consistently cut through the front garden to the stables opposite, which isn’t a problem in itself, but always left both gates open so this meant that the garden was no longer secure for our dogs without checking first and they could have wandered out into the road.Otherwise it was a lovely cottage and ideally placed, we had a lovely time exploring and it was an amazing cottage to return to at end of the day, we shall book again."
