We stayed at Gwel Marten last year so did know what we were getting.

We opted for a downstairs apartment this time so that we had the outside patio which was much better. The apartment was lovely as was our last one but it just seemed a lot more tired and it wasnât the cleanest. On the surface it was clean and the important areas like the bathroom and kitchen were clean so I canât complain there but the cupboards, drawers and shelves where clothes go were so dusty that I couldnât even put our stuff in some of the areas, I am definitely not cleaning when Iâve paid a fortune to go there so we just didnât use the spaces, or moved clothes to the front which wasnât as bad. I bought my own hair dryer so didnât need the one in the apartment which is just as well as the box to the hair dryer was soaking wet. I picked it up to move it so I could put some things on the shelf and the box just fell apart. The toilet seat was broken as soon as we arrived, this was very obvious and I am so disappointed we had to even experience this as this would have been very apparent when cleaning the bathroom as an entire piece that holds the seat in place was missing. Although Carbis Bay responded immediately, no one could fix it until Monday at the earliest. We didnât want anyone in with all our belongings so we had to leave the beach early Tuesday to enable it to be fixed. Itâs just something that should have been rectified before we arrived and for the money we paid, we shouldnât have had to deal with all the hassle or the the crashes in the middle of the night when the toilet seat came apart when people used it. On a whole it was lovely staying there and we do still like the building but just felt there were things not as good as last year. We have been back 2 weeks and still havenât had our deposit back, last year we were contacted within days to arrange a transfer so again this is disappointing as Â£100 is a lot of money and we should really be given compensation for all the hassle. Another little side note and me being really picky is the cheese grater is rubbish, these flat ones with a tiny section for each type of grate options are just useless as thereâs not enough space to do anything with the cheese. But this is just a little something which annoyed me, but complete personal preference. Another bin bag would have been appreciated too. Again we had a few last year and had none other than the one in the bin this time, I would have bought some with me if I had known we wouldnât get any spare. I did go in a few shops and couldnât get any to fit the bin, again something I shouldnât have had to do on holiday. That just seems really silly to me when itâs in everyoneâs best interest to keep the place clean and tidy.

We had a wonderful stay at Seascape.

The apartment was absolutely spotlessly clean,everything was exactly as it was in the pictures.It had everything you could possibly need ,including some welcome goodies,such as milk and biscuits to cling film and tupperware storage boxes. It was lovely and quiet, the view is amazing and it is situated in a perfect spot for visiting lots of different places around the area. It is in quite a hilly area so walking is not for the faint hearted and the most direct walk from to and from the beach is more than a steep climb ,so probably not doable carrying beach chairs etc ( of which there are 2 provided at the apartment ,and a windbreak,no umbrella ) it was a scramble over rocks as many Cornwall beaches are,there is a longer walk but again very steep.It is a lovely small beach but the only direct access is from Carbis Beach hotel , there is some parking ,but it was Â£15 a day (2023) Very easy access to St Ives via the train which is literally a stones throw away and cost Â£1,you could hear the train from the apartment with the windows/doors open but it never bothered us.You can get the train to Penzance too,we ran out of time so didn't get that far. The whole process from booking to handing back the keys was very smooth We genuinely can't find any fault with the apartment itself , would highly recommend it.

Well presented and neatly laid out property with good equipment.

Thoughtful welcome gift bag included which was a lovely touch. A beautiful view and easy to access the property. Parking was good, across the road in a covered parking spot. It was a little tight and very wide cars would struggle (larger 4WD especially). However for size comparison we could fit our big Outlander in fine by moving the wing mirrors in. The property was quite musty and this was a shame. It desperately needs dehumidifiers in the bedrooms and to have a working extractor fan in the bathroom. Humidity from the bathroom (which currently has no window or extractor) was a big issue increasing the dampness of the apartment. We stayed during good summer weather and could keep windows open so this was not a problem. I would not stay in here in the cooler wetter seasons. I feel this is a real shame as it is easily fixable. Cornwall generally has a damp climate and thought should be taken to accommodate this. Addressing these issues would make a massive improvement. I notice from previous feedback that mould has been brought up by previous visitors, so this again is disappointing it hasn't been addressed. Other than this aspect, it is a truly lovely apartment. Please action these points and visitors will be very happy and enjoy a wonderful stay every time.

Without a doubt the best views weâve ever had - weâve been coming to Carbis bay for 10 years. Simply breathtaking and sitting on the patio on a sunny morning with a coffee was just something else. Perfect location for the beach and train station, we left the flat 5 mins before the train was due with still time to spare itâs that close. We have 2 kids aged 9 and 7 and they loved playing out on the lawn after a day at the beach. Love Carbis Bay, the beach is perfect for kids with the stream running through it, weâve spent many hours over the years building dams and watching the water break through it. Easy and quick access to St. Ives without staying in the thick of it. A bit of feedback on the accommodation - it was perfect for us but could do with some updating: stains on living room curtains which we only noticed once drawn, lots of dark wood in bedroom, poor hot water pressure in kitchen, shower failed to drain properly (I suspect because of sand) and the tired living room furniture needs replacing in my opinion. However none of these would prevent us rebooking this property.

This is a fantastic property, which is really well equipped and is so spacious.

The view of St Ives from the living room is incredible and well worth the cost in itself. The Sky TV and PS4 (not things we have at home) were very welcome for entertaining the kids when we were packing up for the day. Our only real gripe was with the en-suite shower, which was boiling hot most of the time, even when set to the coldest temperature, so showers were brief! Only a minor issue really and it wouldnât put us off staying again. The location is ideal. Itâs a 2-3 minute walk to the station and then a 3 minute train journey to St Ives, so no need to go through the stress of driving in St Ives. You can also be on Carbis Bay beach in about 5 minutes, but just watch out for steep climb down and then back up. Well worth the effort though! Carbis Bay is well situated generally. We got to Marzion (St Michaelâs mount) is about 15 mins, and then Lands End in about half an hour. This is during the August school holidays as well. Weâd definitely return and stay in this property again.

Minack Theatre
