If you're looking for a holiday that promises plenty to do and a great atmosphere, day and night, West Cornwall's Penzance could be just the thing. As a historic port, with south facing shores, here the history is colourful and the weather is just as bright. Spend your days exploring the seaside town and the likes of Mount's Bay and Lamorna Cove, and see if you can spot St Michael's Mount in the distance. Or for something truly special, head to the open air Minack Theatre.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr and Mrs Dossett - Verified booking

It turns out we were the first guests to stay in Molly Muppet and what a pleasure it was! It's a gorgeous little cottage, and it is little, but an absolute gem of a place to stay. It is hidden away amongst the houses but has a surprisingly large private garden and is still only a stone's throw from the harbour and the hub of the beautiful village of Mousehole. My husband and I investigated the surrounding areas and there is so much to see and do and so many great places to eat, but it was always a pleasure to come back to Molly Muppet. We particularly enjoyed lazy days of relaxing in the garden, wandering around the village and cosy nights in front of the wood burner. Perfect! The owner has thought of absolutely everything and has done a spectacular job. The cottage is brilliantly equipped and beautifully decorated with so many lovely personal touches. It has obviously been a labour of love. The owner is lovely. So welcoming, helpful and reassuringly relaxed. After a long journey to get there it was great to have a few thoughtful supplies to get us started. Staying in Molly Muppet is a bit like playing house for grown ups but in the best possible way. We couldn't recommend it more highly. Thank you for an absolutely brilliant week, we will be back!! Can't wait!

The property is well located for Sennen Cove, but the name “sea the view” is a bit misleading as it doesn’t really have sea views.

The rooms are very nice quality and design and a lot of thought has gone into it. The photos on the listing showed comfy outdoor furniture but this had been replaced with less lounge furniture (which is obviously easier for them to maintain). So there was nowhere we could all sit and lounge outside (the comfy corner sofa chairs were not there, the swing chairs had been taken down etc). So it wasn’t quite as expected. The bed linen was lovely quality but the pillows were awful - I get this is very personal but I had to go out and buy some as they were that poor and the main bed had a super firm mattress. We had problems with the main patio door not working which meant there was a gap when they were closed and as it is quite an exposed garden the draft and noise of the wind was quite annoying. In addition we had a day of driving rain which lead to a large leak flooding the floor under the picture window. Eating in all the basics crockery was there but for example there was no salad bowl or serving plates, so if you were wanting to do a nice meal in it was a bit basic. The addition of an electric charger was very helpful. It was lovely but overall for the high price I don’t think it quite delivered.

We have stayed in seven cottages marketed by Sykes in recent years and we think Walter has been the best.

It was an attractive, well-decorated building in an interesting part of Newlyn, accessed from a narrow lane (but with car park close by) and was well-equipped. The owners had generously provided us with some food and sufficient supplies of consumables such as washing up liquid, hand washing liquid, and toilet paper. The information pack was interesting, particularly on the history of the house – the current owners are the fifth generation of the family to own it. The cottage is close to the Coastal Path which passes the end of Church Street. We recommend the Hepworth Museum in St Ives, Trewidden Gardens, St Michael’s Mount, the Newlyn Village trail and the Newlyn Filmhouse. There are good local bus services including the Mousehole bus and the Coaster bus – those provide access to the Coastal Path. We did several sections using the bus links. There is a well-equipped Co-op a short walk away, open till late. The only downside of our holiday was mud – the Coastal path between Newlyn and Lamorna had some very muddy stretches because of all the rain.

      Stunning, comfortable cottage.

Loved it. So well-equipped and delightfully furnished and decorated. Wanted for nothing. Location great, we could walk to Newlyn town centre, supermarkets, pubs, Penzance and Mouseholes and there was a bus stop at the bottom of the hill. Walter is halfway up an incline but as we are very fit seniors, it was not a problem for us but for those with limited mobility, it could be. The only other downside was parking. There is a public carpark about 200 metres away and we bought a weekly parking permit. But if we went out in the car, we had to time our arrival home very carefully otherwise, we would not get a parking space. It was full all day and after 4.00 pm when it was free parking, it was almost impossible to get an overnight parking bay. A designated parking bay for the cottage would be helpful. Otherwise, our stay at Walter was amazing and we would definitely recommend to others and would stay there again if ever we come back to UK again. Many thanks for sharing your lovely cottage with us. Barb M. From West Australia.

Beautiful home, we felt bad when we left as we wanted to leave a few comments in the guest book but no one had a pen!

Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!! We actually stayed in one of these last year (sea scape) and as we love it in sennen so much we wanted to come back. Sea the View didn’t disappoint, the bedrooms are beautiful and the bathroom and showers fantastic. The views are amazing too. Downstairs is lovely and the kitchen has everything you need. Couple of ideas for the new owners, it would be great to have a little bistro set to sit at outside, the big day bed and table isn’t great for anything other than lazing back! Which we did lots of course! And maybe pop a little cafetière in the cupboard - we’ve always had one in all the places we’ve stayed (even when there is a coffee machine) so it was unusual not to have one. The garden could do with a tidy up - I’m not a huge gardener but little things like pulling out the dead leaves really make it so pretty when you’re sat outside. These are just little things tho, we had a wonderful time and will DEFINITELY be back!! Thank you!!!
