Park on the driveway and step down three steps to your holiday home, with lawn at the front and side access to the rear patio and raised lawn. Here, you can relax in the sunny enclosed garden with ocean backdrop and enjoy alfresco nibbles and tipples. From the front entrance, the fully equipped kitchen has character beams and a farmhouse vibe, with everything for the cook to rustle up hearty food. The separate sitting room makes a cosy nook for TV evenings and board games. Enter into the spacious family room, with a big dining table and a corner sofa and an additional TV, a good space to gather and plan your next Cornish day out as you eat good food, as you look out to sea. Three bedrooms cater for all your needs, with a comfy double, twin beds and bunks for the little ones. The family bathroom offers a relaxing soak in the bath and an invigorating shower, to set you up for the morning or wash away those sandy toes after a day on the beach. Praa Sands boasts a sandy beach for swims, paddles and kayaking. Refreshment is on hand at the beach café/bar, where you can sit and relax after an energetic bout of sandcastle building. Take a trip to charismatic Porthleven, with harbour and tidal beach, and excellent foodie restaurants and traditional inns. Browse the gift shops and galleries before stocking up on provisions from the supermarket. Drive around the bay to Marazion, with a four mile stretch of beach and iconic castle-topped St Michael’s Mount, reached by ferry or the cobbled causeway at low tide. Stroll the promenade at Penzance or take a dip in the Jubilee shorefront pool. Visit the Maritime Museum in Falmouth, take a boat trip to St Mawes or a fishing excursion. With so much to see and do, Carolyns Cottage is the perfect base to explore Cornwall’s finest attractions.

Newtown lies on the banks of the River Severn, in the heart of the beautiful Montgomeryshire countryside, and boasts a vibrant art gallery, museums and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Newtown is also home to Theatr Hafren, one of Wales’s premier theatres, which showcases a wide variety of entertainment, from comedy shows to opera, offering something for the whole family. Explore the ruins of the Norman Motte and Bailey castle in the beautiful old county town of Montgomery, wander the Grade I listed formal gardens at the renowned Gregynog Hall, or visit the world-famous Powis Castle and Gardens, often frequented by Prince Charles. The medieval market towns of Shrewsbury and Ludlow offer renowned and award-winning restaurants, cosy pubs and quaint shops, as well as festivals and markets, including annual Christmas markets, whilst Ludlow also boasts over 600 listed buildings and Ludlow Castle, so there is something to enjoy all year round. In nearby Churchstoke, the Roundton Hill Nature Reserve and Iron Age Hill Fort is a haven for wildlife and home to a plethora of native British birds. On a clear day, the walk to the summit at 370 metres is rewarded by a 360 degree panorama, from where extensive views over Shropshire and the high Welsh peaks beyond can be seen. A little further afield, Machnynlleth is home to the Centre for Alternative Technology, and also Machnynlleth Golf Club. The delightful seaside village of Aberdovey on the stunning Cardigan Bay coastline is a paradise for watersports enthusiasts, while the sandy beach at Ynyslas is perfect for a family day out. All this and more is within as hour’s drive of Newtown, making this a wonderful year-round holiday destination.
