    Holiday Cottages in Craster

Craster is a small village located within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Craster is renowned for its picturesque harbour, unspoilt beaches, dramatic coastline and famous kippers, of course! When visiting, make sure to see the Craster tower, go for a walk along the Coast to Coast path, or take a boat trip from the harbour to see the seals that live on the Farne Islands.

Many of our Craster holiday cottages are located close to the sea, so you can enjoy stunning sea views and easy access to the beautiful coastline. Choose from traditional stone cottages, modern apartments and large houses that are perfect for a group getaway. For more intimate trips, book a remote log cabin with a hot tub, balcony and open fire.

At Snaptrip, we list thousands of holiday cottages across the UK, all backed by our best price guarantee. Whether you need help with your booking or want some recommendations about what to do on your trip to Craster, our friendly customer service team are always more than happy to help.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ms Mortimer - Verified booking

Firstly, the parking information from OC needs to be updated. Someone commented on this in Oct 2022 and it’s still hasn’t been done. If OC gave out the info that’s in the information guide in the cottage, neighbours wouldn’t be disturbed by guests arriving and trying to understand where they can and cannot park. OC are great at keeping you informed and it’s a shame that this hasn’t been sorted out. The cottage is warm and very comfortable. The welcome pack of goodies and the kitchen / bathroom packs are a nice touch. The one log in the basket by the fire hardly constitutes as a basket of logs and there wasn’t any kindling so we had to use the papers that were left. We had seen comments re this prior to our holiday so took logs etc with us. There wasn’t an oven glove which made pulling stuff out of the oven a bit dangerous but the rest of the kitchen equipment was good. Nice to have some nice sharp knives for a change in a holiday let. Overall the cottage was clean, this has obviously been rectified after recent comments made by guests. Some TLC required downstairs. The location is great. We know the area very well so know that there’s not much in Craster apart from The Jolly Fisherman, which is fantastic and Robsons Smokehouse. As long as you know that beforehand you can ensure you have all you need with you. It’s a fantastic base for coastal and country walks and visiting other places up and down the Northumbrian Coast. I’d say this property is great for 4 people (adults) but any more, unless they were children you might struggle a bit with bathroom facilities. Overall we had a great week and we enjoyed our stay at Pegasus Cottage, would we return….probably not as there are so many other properties to choose from.

We’ve had a lovely stay at High Tide House.

It’s in a fabulous location in Craster, just a 2 minute walk to the harbour and Jolly Fisherman pub (who also do takeaway fish & chips too). It’s around a 30 min walk to Dustanburgh Castle too. The house itself is lovely, with more than enough space for everyone and has most things you’d need for a holiday. There were just a couple of small things though that we noticed when we got to the house. Some of the kitchen utensils were dirty, the baking trays especially - they hadn’t been washed from previous guests. Also, there were a couple of chips on some bowls and a glass was cracked in the cupboard too. The BBQ hadn’t been cleaned either, with loads of ash at the bottom and tonnes of grease on the grill part - there were also no utensils for it which was a real shame. We were hoping to have a BBQ whilst we were here but this put decided not to in the end. Also, it would be useful to have some hooks on the back of doors, especially in the bathrooms so we have somewhere to hang towels/clothes etc. there’s nothing in the bedrooms either. Finally, although this doesn’t affect your stay and it’s no one’s fault, if you are a light sleeper and have early risers in your party, be prepared to be woken up from movement upstairs (as it’s an upstairs house). The en-suite bedroom in particular is directly under the kitchen and you can hear everything. Not sure what it’s like in the other bedrooms but we were often woken up very early because of this. Just something to mention. But overall we had a fab time. We probably wouldn’t come back only because and upside down house isn’t for us (first time we’ve stayed in one) but 100% would stay again if it was the usual bedrooms upstairs and living downstairs.

This is a great property in an excellent location that's convenient for easy car access north or south along the Northumberland coast, and inland to Alnwick, Rothbury or the Cheviots.

But it's also perfect for instant access on foot to the magnificent Dunstanburgh Castle and other fine walks in the area, and in the evenings when most of the tourists depart Craster you have the village largely to yourselves. Everything in the property is in good condition, and apart from some tired pans (always the same in every holiday rental - what do people do to them!) doesn't lack for much. It was well cleaned when we arrived, and there were clear instructions and extra info about facilities and places of interest in the area. Our 2 greyhounds (not the most agile dogs) took a little while to get used to the stairs which were a little steeper than at home, but had mastered it by the end of the week. The included baby gates came in very useful to keep them corralled! Overall it's one of the nicest places we've stayed in, and we'll definitely book it again for next year, and keep our fingers crossed that we get similar perfect weather for most of the week. If I could add only one thing to make it better, it would be an electric car charging point!

      We really loved our stay.

The cottage had everything we needed, and the views from all of the rooms were incredible. So calming to see and hear the sea! The beds were super comfy, and the blackout blinds were much appreciated when trying to get littlies to sleep. It was in a perfect spot with a 2 minute walk to a deserted beach, and a short drive to lots of other cool places. We will definitely be back! Our only issue was the pet hair. We know the cottage is pet friendly, but when playing on the floor with the little ones, we ended up with lots of pet hair on our clothes and their toys - I think perhaps it is hard to clean out of the rugs that are down? There was also hair on the furniture. It wouldn't stop us booking again, we really loved our stay, but I do think that something needs to be done about making sure the pet hair is properly cleaned. Perhaps changing the rugs and throws to ones that can be cleaned more easily?

The cottage was lovely and we did have a great time Just a few small things… There were no welcome logs on our arrival Some cereal/pasta bowls would be useful The info folder in the cottage would benefit from an update- the parking area was not clearly signed and there wasn’t clear instruction that the bins needed taking to the front of the property on collection day- we copied other people but the recycling bin was still full from previous occupants on our arrival. A note to say that glass has to be taken to the main car park area would be useful. The shower could do with an update and wasn’t particularly clean- also you can’t run any other taps in the property whilst the shower is in use! No fault of the owners but the entire back entrance path was littered with nails from a roofing job which caused us 2 punctures.
