What our customers say about their holidays

    • Anne - Verified booking

The house was generally very warm and comfortable, and it was very clean when we arrived.

We enjoyed the views from the lounge and master bedroom, despite the somewhat grey and damp weather! The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans etc, and the welcome cream tea was lovely! The king size bed was extremely comfortable but the two single beds were quite soft so our parents found their backs aching a bit by the end of the week. It would be helpful to include in the property description that the lounge is upstairs - this is not currently in the listing (I re-checked) and we may have thought twice about booking had we known, as we travelled with elderly parents who struggle with stairs. The sofa was quite low and soft which again, made it difficult for the older members of our party. There were plenty of items in the property to provide entertainment (both indoor and outdoor) which is throughtful, plus a folder full of detailed local information. The TV and washing machine were quite old - they did work but we are used more modern (and have experienced better in other holiday cottages) but overall, this house provided what we needed for an early break away.

Please pass on to the owners that we would have appreciated a welcome handbook.

We struggled to understand how the cooker worked and this caused frustrations. We did contact the owner in the end. Also there needs to be instructions on how to use the chair lift. We were lucky and did not need to use it but again this would have been useful to other guests. The single beds need to be changed to bigger singles. And the one by the small window needs to be replaced as it was wooden and creaked with every slight turn or movement. There are needs to be a shower upstairs above the bath. Four people using one shower which was downstairs is not sufficient. The downstairs shower is a wet room which does not drain very well, hence when you want to use the toilet after someone has used the shower your clothes (when wearing towers) get wet!. The overhead shower head needs to be changed to a round one. we even had to clean all the animal hair off the cushions before we could sit down and clean the outside furniture of green algi before we could sit down. Just small things that would really have made a difference.

Wonderful home from home, with a very well equipped kitchen, down to kitchen scales and cake tin, in case you want to make a cake for a birthday whilst staying.

The hosts are on hand and very friendly, with a nothing is too much trouble attitude. The logs burner made it very cosy on blustery days. Having two dogs, staying on a farm was a great bonus as often we’ve found, whilst holidaying in Devon, you are restricted to walking on the lanes and jumping into the hedge if a tractor comes along! Here, there are acres of land you are free to walk in (responsibly) with your dogs. Also great for two energetic boys! Honiton town is very close by and there are lots of great places within a short drive to visit. Not that we needed it, but excellent facilities for people with limited mobility.

Beautiful spot to stay with our two dogs.

Lovely clean accommodation with a comfortable, large bed. The kitchen was well equipped for any self catering and there was a welcome scone and cream tea on our arrival. The house is mid-way between Beer (10mins) and Seaton (15mins) walk. There's a large supermarket in Seaton, 5 mins drive if you need provisions and a small village shop in Beer if you need emergency milk. Plenty of pubs in the local area and most shops and pubs are dog friendly. We walked to Branscombe which was very pleasant and had a lovely meal and drink by the beach, followed by a stroll back through the countryside. Thoroughly recommended

Lovely location, lovely owners and overall the Cottage was fabulous.

For me the only things that need addressing are the TV remote which was impossible to use due to the back missing so the batteries were taped in. The wet room...very awkward as everything got soaked and there is no need for this.... perhaps a shower curtain rail fixed to the ceiling to enclose the shower and stop the whole room from being soaked if this is not necessary and then a disabled person would still be able to use the room as required..... Or mixer taps on the bath upstairs with a shower attachment so you can wash your hair in the bathroom. These are important things for me when staying away.
