    Holiday cottages in Blandford Forum

You’ll find Blandford Forum along the River Stour, just 12 miles north of Poole. Renowned for its Georgian architecture, the village was almost entirely rebuilt back in the 1700s after a large fire destroyed much of it. Assisted by a large donation from George II and local architects, the remainder of Blandford Forum has remained almost completely intact to this day.

Holiday cottages in Blandford Forum are popular with visitors who love to eat, drink and shop – with a range of brand names and independent businesses situated throughout its winding streets. Every side street and alley boasts a new hidden gem in the form of retailer or restaurant and there’s even a locally brewed Badger Beer for visitors to sample.

At Snaptrip our selection of charming holiday cottages in Blandford Forum include homes with amazing facilities that are child-friendly and pet-friendly too. Thimble Cottage is a wonderful little place for a getaway.

Easy to get to and the sat nav takes you right to the door. The whole property looks bright and fresh and the lovely big garden and outside areas are 100% secure for your dogs. Even the most accomplished 4 legged escape artist would have to go some to get out. We had a Great Dane and a Chocolate Labrador and they loved the freedom to be able to wander around and bask in the sun. There a nice welcome pack for both your dogs and yourselves and this was a nice touch. The kitchen has everything that you could wish for and it’s unlikely that you’ll find yourself wanting for any utensil, pan or crockery. Dishwasher and washing machine both have tablets and capsules to suit the length of the stay. It has a smart TV with more than enough channels to keep you entertained. WiFi is good and allows communication to the rest of the world. (The mobile phone signal in a great deal of the surrounding area is a bit patchy.) The property sits just off the road through the village, but you do not get disturbed by what little traffic comes through. It’s in a great location to explore the local area and 30-40 minutes gets you to an abundance of sights. Would thoroughly recommend Thimble Cottage for your next getaway. Parking for one large car and an EV charging point if required.

We had a lovely week staying at this beautiful cosy cottage.

A lot of effort and attention to detail has been made by the owners to provide guests with a great holiday experience. Communication before the holiday was very helpful and when we arrived we were very happy with the cottage, it has been finished with quality high spec fittings and the decoration was tasteful and immaculate. We were delighted to receive a very generous welcome pack of local produce which included bread, jam, apple juice, biscuits and milk. We visited the local pub which is only 2 minute walk away and the village shop has everything you need for the week. We were able to park right outside the cottage all week and it was a great base for travelling to areas of interest. On one day we decided to have a rest from the car and enjoyed a fantastic walk to Hod Hill, well worth the effort. We would highly recommend booking this cottage, we stay in several cottages every year and this is definitely up there as one of the best. We would like to say thank you to the owners for the standard of accommodation you provide, it is obvious you care about your guests.

We had a fantastic stay at Rowdens Barn at Hedge End Farm.

The property is in an amazing location but what really stands out is the quality of everything inside. From the power of the shower, to the high spec of the white goods and tv, right down to the fantastic knives and utensils which are available. The property is also really welcoming on arrival, with little touches like the heating being on low on a rainy day so its warm when you walk in and the cake on the stand on the dining table. Going away during COVID, it was also great to be able to speak to the property manager before arrival to agree on what would be in the property in terms of bedding and towels in advance, so we felt very comfortable throughout our stay, as well as being reassured by how spotless the whole property was. Lastly, we were very impressed by the communications from Sykes Cottages, especially the brilliantly helpful email about what to remember to pack and checking the car in advance etc! We would be very happy to book through them again in the future.

The cottage is beautifully furnished, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, cookies and lots of cleaning products are provided.

Easy parking and there are several nearby walks for dog owners. I would have given the cottage a much higher rating except for the disappointingly lightweight summer duvet provided on the double bed which I found much too cold at night for the cool weather of early May. This is the first place I have stayed where there are no extra blankets provided for colder clients. My holiday was saved by using the thicker and snugglier single duvets in the second bedroom but using them would not have been possible if we had had family staying with us. There are convector heaters but I do not want to sleep in a room filled with warm muggy air. I did contact the manager to check if there was any extra bedding available ("no") but she didn't answer until we were home from our holiday, which was a bit pointless. This is a very personal review and anyone who prefers lightweight bedding will love this cottage.

Way exceeded expectations - and we thought it was a new conversion everything was so pristine!

The speed the owner responded with an argumentative tap was impressive. Only slight disappointment, seems dog owners have to be reminded to clear up their "deposits" on the bridleway as it has been years since we have seen such a huge amount of poo on a footpath! Some of which ended up on our shoes. We mentioned this to one of the other "residents" who bizarrely said he didn't walk his dog up the path first thing, but along the road. Hate to say it, I think some of the holidaymakers will be responsible. Shame. Overall we had a wonderful stay, lots to do and see, and helpful stack of leaflets and info in the sideboard, not to mention board games and jigsaws. The enclosed garden was great for the dog - an ideal place for her! I'd suggest all dog owners make sure they take loads of covers and throws.
