About this property

Little Acorn is a welcoming cottage set near Whitby, North Yorkshire, offering single‑storey living with a studio‑style layout, private garden patio, and hot tub within the North York Moors National Park. Step inside to find a thoughtfully arranged open‑plan space where you can drop your bags, put the kettle on, and ease into holiday mode. The king-size double bed sits to one side, creating a gentle sleeping area, while the adjacent sitting and dining space provides a spot to unwind with a film or linger over a leisurely breakfast. At the far end, the compact kitchenette is equipped with the essentials, including a kettle and toaster, ready for simple meals between days out.

A sleek shower room with a walk‑in shower, basin, and WC completes the interior. Slide open the door to the garden and let your time flow easily between indoors and out. The patio, furnished for alfresco moments, encourages you to savour a drink in the fresh air or sink into the hot tub as the sky fades into late evening hues. Sleights itself offers plenty to fill your days, from calling into Botham’s Bakery for pastries to browsing the counters at Radford’s Butchers, or settling in at the Plough Inn after a wander through the village. Just across the River Esk, Ruswarp invites you to hire rowing boats or enjoy the miniature railway beneath the woodland canopy.

A short drive leads to Whitby, where you can climb the 199 Steps, explore the atmospheric abbey ruins, stroll the harbour, or visit its independent shops and fishmongers. Further along the coast, Robin Hood’s Bay promises winding alleyways, sea‑glass hunting, and clifftop paths with sweeping sea views. Inland, Goathland offers moorland scenery and its well‑known heritage railway station, perfect for scenic journeys across wide horizons. Whatever your plans, Little Acorn offers an inviting base for exploring the North York Moors National Park.

Briggswath is a quiet neighbourhood in a sought-after part of the village of Sleights, resting on the north side of the River Esk, and is named after one of the medieval bridges. The village used to be part of the parish of Aislaby, which sits above it on the edge of the moors, but is now part of the parish of Eskdaleside-cum-Ugglebarnby, forming a small triangle on the north side of the Esk. The village contains a Wesleyan chapel built in 1820. A wide range of shops, primary schools (at both Sleights and Ruswarp), a church and doctor's surgery make up the charming location. Briggswath lies approximately two miles from Whitby and 17 miles from the market town of Pickering, with plenty more amenities and attractions to explore.
