Avoid! Awful experience.
Massive issue with cheap master bed damaged cheap mattress that dipped severely in the middle along with a bellowed metal frame that not only was not screwed together cotrectly, caused mass discomfort and no sleep both for ourselves and our poor 10yr old little girl who offered to swap but equally could not. Ended up with the mattress in the floor the third night in a failed attempt to get some sleep , having raised this with the owners and sykes (who were no help at all and said it was to be resolved via ourselves and the owner) the owner sent a mattress protector that was neither use nor ornament and didn't even have anyone come into the property to even look at the bed. We could no longer justify no sleep for the family along with back ache and upset and gave in at 1am leaving 3 days early dragging our whole family a 4.5 hour drive back in the dark on no sleep. The owners claimed nothing could be done or delivered despite us checking locally that their was availability, however they were more than happy to take our £1000 for the week we had planned as a family break. You should also be made aware that there is a construction site adjacent to and opposite the property as your view ,not mentioned and many cameras all around the 'outside' of the property which was incredibly intrusive. So if you like your privacy be aware. Horrific experience and unfair outcome. We will not be the first to have had issues and we will certainly not be the last. I only hope for the sake of other innocent guests the owners despite claiming otherwise, make the necessary upgrades to the bedrooms ( having been previously told a single bed was an issue and replaced it same day) so that no one else suffers the disgusting outcome we and our young children have

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Old House.
The property is perfect and, although small, we had everything we needed. It was beautifully clean throughout and the furnishings are very tasteful. The bed is extremely comfortable and the beautiful views from the bedroom and living room windows create a feeling of tranquility. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed walking to An Corran Beach and along the bank of the River Stenscholl. Staffin is well equipped with amenities and, as well as making use of Staffin Stores for odd bits of shopping, we visited both the Columba 1400 Cafe and the Hungry Gull, all within easy walking distance of the property. To avoid the potholes and take in the scenery more easily, we made use of the no.57 bus on several occasions with trips to Portree, Uig and Broadford (for Broadford we changed buses at Portree to the citylink service). It was so handy having a bus stop just at the end of the Garafad Road. We hope to return one day- it was a fantastic week and we really loved the property.

We would unreservedly recommend the Old House.
As for Staffin, well we came to like it but we were blessed with good weather. If your idea of Skye is mountainous hills, look further south where travel times would be shorter. The cottage was very comfortable. Yes itâs compact, but all the essentials are there and are pretty much uncompromised by space limitations. The standard and style of decor and fitments would meet the exacting standards of customers of, say, John Lewis or M&S Home. As you get to know the area more you take in the shops and the cafe virtually a stoneâs throw away across a sheep filled field. And you notice the little boards that werenât there the day before, announcing an event. Nearby is some spectacular scenery, eg at Storr or Quiraing, and the Fairy Glen (not the pools which are way down south) aka Hobbitland. If you go when the weatherâs nice, look out for coffee vans and full car parks. But simply considering the Old House itself, we were very comfortable and very happy.

Beautiful property in an even more beautiful location!
We really cannot fault our stay, we had everything we needed in the property for our stay, and everything we wanted to see in the highlands within a short driving distance away. The weather wasnât too kind to us but that didnât stop us exploring; the cottage was the best thing to come back to after a wet and windy hike in the mountains! And the calmness at night time with nothing around you, it was so peaceful. The only little tiny issue I had was the overgrown back garden; it made it difficult to clean up after the dogs and I was forever checking them for ticks. But thatâs more of an inconvenience rather than a negative issue with the property. We shall be booking again for next year, for sure!

My sister and I enjoyed an excellent week's holiday at The Well, a very well appointed cottage with beautiful views across farmland and the Solway Firth to the Lakeland hills and mountains in the blue distance. Everything that we needed was available - and some things we didn't even dream we might have - such a s a telescope for admiring the distant view and also the reflective glass in the large picture window that ensures privacy while allowing guests to admire the scenery. Parking is very easy and a car ensures access to so many lovely places in the surrounding area. We highly recommend this cottage and very much welcomed the thoughtful supply of food items that was waiting for our arrival.
