What our customers say about their holidays

    • D Hill - Verified booking

We have stopped in several cottages in the area but this cottage has the edge in many ways.

It is a beautiful location facing out onto the Sound of Harris benefitting from an elevated site above the general property in the area. It is wonderfully equipped with everything that you need for a fully self catered holiday. The accommodation is pristine and works very well to keep everyone connected whether resting, reading, cooking or eating the splendidly aspected main room combines all functions seamlessly. The windows also give a variety of views along the hillside and out to sea. The balcony adds another dimension to eating and relaxing as it sits majestically in front of the picture windows to the lounge with panoramic views to die for. The bedrooms are set to the rear with side views still providing sea views thank to the property's elevation. They are a comfortable size and there is totally adequate storage. The bathroom is exceptional with a double shower and a Jacuzzi bath perfect for relaxing after a long walk on the hills and enough space to hold a party in! The utility room provides washing and ironing facilities with ample storage for coats and shoes, it is really well appointed with storage cupboards too. The equipment in the kitchen is better than most domestic kitchens although the cooker can be a challenge to the technophobe! The external boiler room provides extra space for drying of clothes and space for the recycling ensuring uncluttered main accommodation very useful if the weather is less than cooperative. The heating is fully adaptable and can provide everything from cool to sauna and there is no limit on the usage. The owner is accessible and nothing is too much trouble if you want that extra thing or you need something explaining. We could not think of anything that could be improved. We have been stopping at the cottage for several years now at its standards have never dropped. We strongly recommend this property if you want the best house in the area and what a beautiful area it is!

Shalom Cottage was all we could have wished for.

Clean, comfortable, warm with the best view over the Sound of Harris. Very well equipped especially as we love cooking, lobsters and langoustines from the pier, venison haunch steaks from the North Harris estate, scallops from the shack on the way to Uig, and the local community shop were so helpful and had all that we needed including saffron!! Croft 36 in Northton provided bread, some lunch and sweet treats. Bird watching was a treat and we had great sightings from the cottage itself as well as from the car and on foot all around the islands, averaging a Sea Eagle every day as well as many other exciting birds big and small. Thank you Kathryn for the oatcakes (Luskintyre, Kathleen MacLeod) and the fruit loaf (perhaps McLeans) and your helpful suggestions. A great nostalgia trip for us all remembering sailing out to St Kilda (which we saw again from the top of Toe Head) and our other trips including anchoring in Rodel Harbour, a lovely walk away from the end of the road, Harris has so much to offer and Shalom cottage became our home from home, thanks again, Grace & Grant, Dundee, Neil & Sheena, Andorra

      Just perfect!

What a house! The views on all sides are awesome and you can see the views on all sides from the house itself. Superbly refurbished and elegantly decorated but with a homely feel that doesn't leave you afraid to use it. The garden was wonderful for the dogs (although a local dog was jumping the fence and fouling the garden) and it was fun to watch them chase around the house at top speed. The doors to the decking were a big hit with them and us as they were very content to sit and watch the sheep. St Clements View is also in an excellent position for touring the beaches of Harris and finding all the hidden gems of tiny bays and harbours where seals, otters and, if you're lucky, whales can be seen. Seeing the golden eagle over the house was fantastic and we had fun watching the Leverburgh - Berneray ferry twisting and turning its way through the small islands and rocks. It was such a fabulous holiday we stayed an extra two weeks!

This was a fantastic house at the end of a single track road, so very little traffic.

It is a dog friendly premises, however, there are so many sheep, we didn’t feel comfortable about letting the dogs off the lead when out and about, but we did find the fencing adequate so the dogs didn’t get out. There were some things missing in the house that should be quite simple to rectify. There could be side tables in the lounge, as the distance to the glass table in the middle is quite a distance with a hot drink - a lot of stretching. A soup ladle would have been useful, and a pastry brush, as we bought the local beef pie with pastry. We felt that with the dogs and, the wet weather that we unfortunately had, a mat at the back doors in the kitchen would have been useful to help with the cleaning of the kitchen floor. All in all this a great converted Croft house - we would consider going back - the views (in good weather) are terrific.

Location, Location, Location I'm so glad I chose St Clement's View for our Easter family break.

The location is stunning with near 360 degree uninterrupted views. The house feels secluded in its position at the end of the road but not isolated. We settled in very quickly, the house is cosy and welcoming, clean and modern. It was laid out perfectly for our family and Baxter the dog loved lying right at the front door so he could see all the comings and goings. The kitchen was a joy to cook in and was well equipped. The bathroom is spacious and modern. The house in general is very well equipped with nice little touches such as DVDs, books and binoculars. Top tip......order a large grocery shop from Tesco online to be delivered just after your arrival. The local Co-op (7 minute drive) is really well stocked but I found it useful to plan the week's dinners and know I had everything we needed.
