What our customers say about their holidays

    • Charlotte - Verified booking

General feedback is that it’s a lovely property but not very well maintained unfortunately.

We had a lovely week but I wouldn’t return unless some of the issues listed below are fixed. I really hope they do address the issues as the house is a lovely layout & could be amazing. Property had been cleaned between visits and sheets were fresh but some of the maintenance/ quality issues (to name a few!): 1) property not deep cleaned. Under cooker was dirty, radios on shelves thick with stickiness and dust, curtain pull chords black with dirt, shower silicon/edge of trays dirty. Sofa dirty & discoloured. 2) maintenance issues; broken safety latch on upstairs window (which meant we couldn’t have our daughters bedroom window left open in the heat!). Loose toilet roll holders in every showerroom, sofa arm completely caved in on one of the sofas, coffee table legs bent, loose tile downstairs on the hallway, utility room was just a mess (broken clothes airer left mangled in there, mop was disgusting, room was generally dirty). Downstairs shower room/wet room drainage was backing up & there’s only one drain in the whole room which means water goes everywhere and you need to sweep it back to the drain. 3) General things that made the house feel a bit tatty & not well maintained: decorative cushions were dirty and tatty, all the glasses were mismatched (and we found a broken one in the cupboard). Cutlery, pots and pans provided were all mismatched and tarnished and old. Looks like a collection of random things people had just left behind. All the knifes had tarnished rust spots on. Cleaning products weren’t new /replenished for our visit; eg, the dish clothes were clearly not new, only a little bit of cleaning spray and washing up liquid available, no kitchen roll. Towels had seen better days and there were no spares provided which would have been helpful for a weeks stay. Cushions on outside furniture off lounge was mismatched on one side and missing from the other. Good things: Well located. Good selection of TV apps which is really helpful with the little ones. General cleaning had clearly been done (it’s just the deep clean elements had been missed). We loved the layout (two families sharing so each had our own floor which was great - don’t often find this layout!

We very much enjoyed our stay & overall the accommodation was very good, well designed & comfortable.

The beds & bedding in particular were very comfortable. We did have a problem with the boiler which locked out on low water pressure on one occasion for some reason causing a worrying noise - the plumber who was called out came quickly & was very efficient in diagnosing & fixing the problem. The curtain rail in the lounge over the patio doors kept coming loose which was annoying. As we also run our own holiday let we're likely to be picky so please take the following comments in that context - you don't need to publish them they're more use for the owner. A shower in the upstairs bathroom would have been very useful. The other issue with the upstairs bathroom was low water pressure so that running the bath was very slow & you couldn't use other water supplies upstairs at the same time. The kitchen was well equipped but some items were missing which would be very useful eg. microwaveable glass mixing bowl, casserole dishes so this area might need a review. In addition the electronic scales didn't work & it turned out the batteries had leaked acid & needed replacing - we did this for you. The finish was beginning to peel on some of the kitchen cupboards (e.g, around the dishwasher). Cleanliness around the apartment was generally good however the sofa looked a bit grubby in places (being a light colour it's not very serviceable) & the tiled floors - although vacuum cleaned - gave the impression of not having been mopped recently. Hope you find this useful as that's the point in going to the trouble of providing it! Many thanks

I was looking for a pet friendly property, this was advertised as so.

But it was not. We have 2 tiny dogs and spent the entire time with them tied up when needed to go for a wee as the garden was not secure and the gate opened straight out onto a busy road. The grass was overgrown and only on Monday did the gardener turn up unannounced. The best room (lounge) is upstairs but dogs aren’t allowed up there yet there is not a stair gate? So again more stress keeping them downstairs (at home they are family pets and allowed everywhere in the house) and all of the doors shut. So as a family we didn’t use the garden at all. The back garden is concrete and not maintained, in fact we couldn’t use the washing line as was entangled with leaves and branches from the tree above. The games room only had one dart ? And on Wednesday August 16 there was a power cut from 9 ish until 6pm!! So much of our fridge food had to be thrown away. When we spoke to a neighbour they told us it was planned works. We then found a letter in the porch which envelope said in red bold writing “important information of electric disruption “( also addressed to occupier dated august 2) which said about the booked works although it stated on/off it was almost 9 solid hours. We should of been made aware as this was very inconvenient. We weren’t happy with the checkin/out times. In 4 pm and out 9.30 am. That’s a day lost. The house it self is lovely ,but with dogs it was not enjoyable. Had we of know we would of found a genuine pet friendly property.

This is the most wonderful bungalow as the view definitely stands out as the top plus point but my goodness it is sadly so tired.

It has an electric shower which is tricky to regulate the temperature and my son really scalded himself. The kitchen is also quite basic and needs some new china and glassware as there is a real mishmash and were only 2 bowls. So having cereal for a family of 4 we had to take it in turns. The floor in the sitting room was stained and the carpet when we arrived was embedded with white dog hairs which really made the carpets feel really dirty so I had to give it a proper hoover. Also the knobs in the double bedroom on the wardrobe and the chest of drawers were not attached so when one pulled on them they came off in your hand. Also the bedside light did not work on one side so reading at night was tricky and the blind had to be rolled up by hand. Also we could not find any window locks so could not open some of the windows. But despite these comments, we would go again as it did have a certain charm which was rustic and typical of a place of times of old, which now in Polzeath is quite hard to find as every property is brand spanking new.

Good location, short 5 minute walk to beach.

Beds comfortable although we always take our own pillows with us in case the ones in the property aren't comfy - and we did need them. Kitchen well appointed and had lots of plates cutlery etc. Utility room again well appointed. Lounge had comfortable sofa and big modern TV, although there were quite a few dog hairs on the sofa. I don't know if your properties have a yearly coat of paint, but we thought that there were a lot of marks on the walls so they probably need one soon. It would also have been good if there had been a bluetooth speaker. It's always good to have an outside space for boards and wetsuit storage and together with the outside shower this was great. However there are some brambles coming through the fence which need cutting back, some moss on the wood by the wetsuit hooks and the clothes hanger outside is broken. Very good that recycling is encouraged with wheelie bins and a glass box
