What our customers say about their holidays

    • Daniel - Verified booking

      1. Whilst there was a dishwasher it’s purpose was largely redundant given the limited amount of crockery and cutlery.

For example, there were only two tea mugs. We would have preferred to spend less time washing up but it was not possible to fill the dishwasher. 2. The outside lighting was very poor. We arrived in the dark and could barely see the outside steps. It is a potential accident waiting to happen. 3. It was difficult to locate the property in the dark as there was no sign outside to identify it. 4. It would have been useful if plug adapters had been provided. 5. The information pack in the apartment is out of date. For example, it recommends a restaurant which went out of business two years ago; there was no torch in the drawer. 6. Given that we paid five star prices we expected five star provisions. 7. The bed was very comfortable. 8. The apartment was located in a very quiet area which we enjoyed. 9. Alexa and the smart TVs were good. 10. The fridge freezer was good. 11. Good quality bed linen and towels were provided. Overall, we would recommend staying at the apartment. If the owner makes the suggested improvements it will be even better!

      Lovely property.

Has everything that you may want. Great for couples. Located in centre of village but only a minutes walk from 2 pubs and 10 minutes walk to the glorious beach. Off road parking is a real bonus. The bed is enormous and comfortable. Welcome pack delicious! Hope to return asap. A few minor issues: Information pack would be nice. Take a torch if you have a dog. The enclosed lawn is very dark at night! A switch to turn off the PIR activated lights outside the bedroom at night would be nice. The lights currently stay on for about 10 minutes so if you have a nocturnal toilet break you will illuminate the bedroom, albeit briefly. There is a PIR activated switch in the bedroom. I believe it may be a burglar alarm. When you move in bed it activates and a bright green light turns on by the bed. It stays on for several minutes and is enough to wake you. For some reason this stopped activating the last 2 nights we were there

We have stayed at Lavender Barn three times now, and we like it quite well.

It is nicely positioned up a private but shared drive which helps to make it feel safe. For us the biggest drawbacks are that the garden is detached from the property. I am sure with consultation with the local planning authority some steps from the frontage area could be put in so that access in the rear garden could be made with out having to go out in the drive. This would be so much better for privacy and safety for pets. The Property would also benefit from having a TV in the bedroom for those of us who don't always sleep very well. and perhaps the provision of a small fan, would contribute to making it a perfect holiday home. One thing we feel Lavender Barn dose fail on, is the absence of any sun loungers in the garden, particularly as we like to use the garden for a large part of our stay. Just a few things could make Lavender Barn so much better.

This is our second visit to Lavender Barn there are a few things that need to be sorted.

The wooden bathroom window has warped and is very difficult to close. There is no plastic shower mat so this has made a problem with getting in and out especially for older people. The shower basket to hold shampoo etc we found in a kitchen cupboard this should be in the shower. The lights on the cooker hood do not work. The fridge is not very cold and our milk that was well in date went off. No light working in the fridge. As a good gesture there should be a couple of washing pods left as a starter pack. A rubber mat to put walking boots or sandy shoes on by the door would be useful and help the cleaning ladies as this could be washed with a mop when cleaning the floors. This is a lovely property in a beautiful position but needs attention to make it a five star accommodation.

We felt that the name "Hideaway" was a bit of a misnomer.

What we were perhaps given to believe was that the property was completely on it's own, with no other people anywhere close by. In fact all was communal outside with some building works ongoing. Perhaps we expected too much. Otherwise everything was absolutely beautiful, the living space wonderfully done, absolutely everything we needed (except a butter knife........), the welcome pack generous and much needed after a long journey there. A lovely location. The local pub served some of the best food we had, and the local shop handy, but more than - 1 mile away, in a car. In all we, and our dog did enjoy our stay at the Hideaway despite being surrounded.... Oh, perhaps the house name should be outside, on the lane ~ difficult to find in the dark.
