What our customers say about their holidays

    • Catherine - Verified booking

Overall we had a really great stay and the cottage and surrounding environment were excellent.

There were some minor niggles but many of these were personal preferences and do not reflect negatively on the property or the facilities. In no particular order these were: - o There was an issue with the booking and on arrival we were shown a 1 bed property rather than the 2 bed we had booked. There was an awkward few minutes when paperwork was frantically checked and this somewhat spoiled the commencement of our break. My suggestion with regard to this would be to have individual names for the properties rather than studio 1 & 2. o The property would be better served by removing some of the clutter and non-essentials from the kitchen and dining area. I know many people like to cook a lot whilst on a self catering vacation but for us there was just too much stuff in and around the kitchen. Possible an online checklist prior to arrival would allow the management to tailor the contents of the property to the needs of the guests. o The wet room - My issue is I just don't like wet rooms. The floor was never dry despite all the incessant mopping that had to be done every time the shower was used. The one real issue that we were OK with but should have been made aware of was the building work taking place on the site during the entirety of our stay. The builders were respectful and friendly and as quiet as they possibly could have been but we should have been informed that this work would be in progress.

Everything was better than we expected (apart from the weather'''''') The owners Julia and Dave were a joy to meet a were extremely helpful.

My only criticism was the design of the Wet-room pump action centrifugal spinning floor mop which I thought was a novel and great idea but it is not not fast enough to be effective and not the owners fault either. Then there was the impossibility in getting a cab to take us to the Polgooth when it was RAINING. But to be be Fair it is too short a FARE to make it worth their while I suppose. Still I can't help wondering if they would show an interest and suddenly find an available cab if you were to say name your price, or they could impose some sort of surcharge for short runs at peak times as a minimum charge. To be honest, I would happily have paid an extra £5 or even £10 on a special family night out to save us all from a drenching from the Biblical downpours.. that would have had Noah heading for the hills. The steep driveway was not anything to worry about and became a bit of a chuckle after the first ascent / decent. btw there is hardly any phone signal so a good way to chat is via messenger or whatsapp but then I expect most people know that one already but I was a bit slow to suss that one out. All in all, none of that was Dave and Julia's fault and I've been rambling a bit now methinks, and have digressed from announcing most importantly that this was possibly one of the best retreats that we have spent our break in/at and wouldn't hesitate from recommending to my friends.

We had a lovely stay at Camelot cottage, the cottage is in a great location to explore and it was fantastic to be able to accommodate our friendly dog.

The cottage is spacious for a family of four and very well equipped, a real home from home. Something to consider is that the stair at top of the staircase coming from the master bedroom is a little tricky and wouldn’t be suitable for younger children as extra caution is needed to navigate it. Another is the lack of privacy in outdoor spaces, the very small patio to the front is open to the street front and the tiny decked area to the back offers absolutely no privacy to the property next door, this also affects privacy when in the upstairs bathroom when windows are open. Finally I would like to point out that although we found the accommodation very clean there were some oversights we encountered, there was a packet of biscuits left out for us which I thought was lovely, however when we went to have one the pack was opened and half eaten, not very hygienic at all.

We booked the holiday in 2019, to go in 2020, but due to Covid-19 we had to delay until this year.

In that time, we acquired another small dog and a Grandson! We asked the owner if we could bring a second dog and asked if there was a travel cot. We were informed that there wasn’t room for a travel cot and we could not take another dog. If prices had not gone sky high after restrictions eased, I would have cancelled. Anyway, we only took one small dog and our own travel cot. There was room for 2 travel cots in the main bedroom! It was a lovely sized bedroom. The cottage was quite comfortable, well equipped and not too far from Port Isaac. The only grumble we had, the mattresses on all 3 beds have seen better days, and the sofas are not very comfy. It is located in a beautiful village.

Wow what a lovely holiday home exceeded are expectations!

The hosts were amazing lovely little welcome package for when we arrived and were very helpful! Great facilities were a very nice surprise heated indoor pool and jacuzzi. Also a games room and little gym. All set in beautiful surroundings! The pub down the road serves lovely food and you ain’t to far away from the town even though you wouldn’t think it when you open the curtains on a morning and are surrounded by fantastic views! The accommodation it’s self was more than you needed for a holiday genuinely could of stayed there for weeks the beds were super comfy and the hosts of thought of everything and more to ensure we had a great break! Will definitely be visiting again
