Thank you so much for the most amazing stay at River Cottage.
We stayed as a family of 3, 2 adults and a child age 7. The owner met us to give us the keys and show us around he was a lovely man and was happy to answer any questions we had. The cottage is over 3 floors, ground floor with entrance lobby, garage and utility space with washer, dryer & ironing facilityâs. 1st floor with landing, double bedroom, twin bedroom both with wall mounted TVs and the family bathroom. 2nd floor is the living dining and Kitchen area. On the 2nd floor you have the floor to ceiling windows with a beautiful view overlooking the River. There is sky TV at the property and a great WI-FI connection that covers you on all 3 floors. The property has everything you will need for your stay and more. Location you couldnât get any better as you are in the heart of Morpeth itself with the shop, restaurants, takeaways, bars and not forgetting Carlisle Park on your doorstep. If you want to go further a field then you are also approx 5 minute drive to the A1 with the whole of Northumberland to explore. Personal recommendations: Morpeth Tandoor takeaway an award winning takeaway and when you take the food you will understand why they have won so many awards. Nikos Taverna bringing Greece to Morpeth the food is delicious & the staff are so friendly then finally the auction house bar for their out of this world biscotti cocktails. Overall we loved our time at River Cottage and would definitely stay there again.

There can be few better places to spend a week before 12 weeks 'self isolation' than at 'The Steadings'.
A fine cottage based on a working farm at the historic 'Tosson Tower' site. Outstanding views over the Coquet Valley, Rothbury and towards the Cheviot Hills. Very close to Tosson Tower is the Simonside Forestry Walking Area.[ Although the single track road to get to the visitor parking areas is a bit grim for low slung saloon cars] Nearby attractions include Cragside and Wallington Hall NT Properties. The scenery of the magnificent Northumberland Coastal Region including Bamburgh, Seahouses etc is about 40 to 60mins drive away via Alnwick with the Castle and its historic connections. The cottage itself is some two miles or so from Rothbury with its shops and other amenities. The cottage and its owners were very 'dog friendly' and walks starting from the cottage itself supported our canine friend. The secure garden was also a definite plus! The cottage itself was warm, well equipped and a delight to return to after a hectic outdoor day. If there is any slightly negative comment, which did not in anyway affect our party of two, is that with only one shower a full six person party would lead to some morning queuing. The cottage itself is extremely spacious with good wi-fi. Overall a delightful cottage holiday in a turbulent week.

Absolutely loved our stay at The Steadings, booked for 6, however only 3 of us went.
We had so much space, we went for New Year for a week as we arrived the Christmas lights outside looked so pretty on entering it felt so warm and cosy as the Christmas decorations were up with the fairy lights on the tree & around the beams, while unpacking Ann knocked to greet us & told us to knock at the farmhouse if we had any problems, however, we did not need to, Beds comfy, shower good, white goods worked well, new sofa's which were comfy & looked better than ones in photos, our bulldog Vinnie enjoyed the large enclosed garden, we used garage door of (games room) to enter garden which had fantastic views to front & side of property also from bedroom windows there was a beautiful garden with a pond & fountain although belongs to B&B. We used the games room every night our nephew had so much fun, however, it was cold at this time of year, we just wore our coats & boots. I would love to see games room renovated with heating & flooring to flow with comfort of this fab property. We enjoyed chocolate brownies and a bottle of milk in a glass bottle obviously produce from the farm, an added extra touch. Well done. Deborah from Gateshead

River Cottage is extremely well placed, being tucked away just off the main street in Morpeth.
It's only a four minute walk to the main shopping arcade and there are also plenty and varied eating places within a short walking distance. For anyone who likes curries there is the Morpeth Tandoori within 100 yards of the cottage and it serves really outstandingly good Indian food. The cottage itself has recently been completely renovated to a very high standard and is well equipped throughout with a spacious kitchen area with every facility that one could want. There is a similarly well appointed bath/shower room. All furniture throughout the cottage is new and of a good quality and the owner has clearly given thought to every need that the visitor might have. The internal garage is an added bonus and is clean, well lit and spacious and opened by an electric roller door, allowing parking with great security. Morpeth is an excellent location in Northumbria and we were able to access all of the many attractions, both near and far, with ease. River Cottage was a major factor in our having a truly memorable holiday in Northumbria and we would have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending it.

River Cottage is located close to the shopping centre.
Despite the pandemic all of the shops seem to be thriving. It was is a three minute walk to Marks and Spencer so we were able to stock up with food. Morrisons and Lidl are also located in the town. There are a number of beautiful walks to be had from the cottage; we enjoyed walking along the banks of the River Wansbeck and through Carlisle Park. Lots of history on the doorstep. River Cottage is well appointed and is quite luxurious and had everything we needed. There was bottle of wine, fruit juice, chocolates, milk and fresh flowers provided the owner, Abdul, as a welcome which was much appreciated. Abdul greeted us warmly and is very helpful and friendly person. He owns and runs the Morpeth Tandoori take away close by. We enjoyed some delicious meals from there. The ground floor comprises a garage with a utility area. The garage was large enough to accommodate our Volkswagen Passat Estate Car with careful manoeuvring. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning.
