"A very lovely cottage with a lovely garden very comfortable. Sadly the location was disappointing. Cottage at the end of a scruffy street on the outskirts of the town, front window overlooked dustbins and neighbouring poorly kept gardens.Only one public house (the rest shut down) but was not open until 5.00pm at night. Nothing to see unless you go into town, One good café, and one pub in town. The whole area seemed as if it was a dying community. The next village haverigg was just as bad nothing except a fish shop and one pub which doesn't let in dogs. For three days we travelled around 20 miles radios of the cottage each day to find a place to eat. loads of winding roads leading to dying communities , no shops or pubs which were open, most shut down or the odd one which never opened till 5.00pm. In the end we found one in raven glass which was around 35miles away The Pennington arms very posh lovely food and yes dogs allowed so that was good but who wants to travel 35 miles to each day...We don't expect to go on holiday and search for eating places or places to see... Silcroft was a lovely little place fantastic beach but that was it.. Very very disappointed not really a place for dogs. or eating out.... as I said a dying run down area...Very disappointed and felt like I had wasted my money."

"Overall a stunning location surprisingly easy to find - however main reason for going; hot tub, hot tub temp was freezing when we arrived and then for the rest of the trip it was boiling to a point you couldn’t even rest your feet in it! When calling reception we were told oh yeah just put some cold water in it and leave the top off - both of which we did - not really what you want to be doing all holiday is filling tubs of cold water to cool your hot tub down - which then heats back to boiling in a few hours 🙄🤦🏻♀️ All in all spoilt what could have been a perfect holiday - also sauna seats are that old that I wouldn’t reccomend sitting on them - after the first trip to the floor we left the sauna idea, essentially we stayed in a lovely log cabin no hot tub or sauna! Staff seem to be aware of the hot tub issue as the residents staying next door to us asked what our temp was like - seems to be a site wide issue!"

"Swallow Barn is beautifully decorated and is in a great location. It may not be in the centre of the lake district, but we liked that. It was peaceful and felt like we were part of the 'real' Lakes because it was not too close to the touristy centre of the Lake District, but everything including Haverigg beach was just a short drive away. The best lake, Coniston, is about twenty mins drive away. The Punchbowl Inn is within walking distance serving really good pub grub. The owner is very approachable, accommodating and helpful. Has a great knowledge of local walks, sending us on an amazing walk that started on a pathway that used to be a victorian railway track, led to another great pub - The Blacksmiths Arms and though rolling fields full of new born lambs. All in all a wonderful easter break."

"On first arrival we were a little bit disappointed with the area but the cottage is a wee diamond in the rough. The people of Millom and Haverigg are so friendly and helpful giving you helpful hints of places to see and eat out. The cottage had everything you would find in your own house which is exactly what we needed. Only downside there were only three comfy chairs in the living room and four in our family. And to spend all evening sitting on a dining chair was a bit much. We will be back as our children and dogs had a fantastic time. The cottage is great for a base, bedrooms very spacious with loads of storage, garden a great bonus for the evenings. I loved the local area and the neighbours were very friendly too."
