"A very lovely cottage with a lovely garden very comfortable. Sadly the location was disappointing. Cottage at the end of a scruffy street on the outskirts of the town, front window overlooked dustbins and neighbouring poorly kept gardens.Only one public house (the rest shut down) but was not open until 5.00pm at night. Nothing to see unless you go into town, One good café, and one pub in town. The whole area seemed as if it was a dying community. The next village haverigg was just as bad nothing except a fish shop and one pub which doesn't let in dogs. For three days we travelled around 20 miles radios of the cottage each day to find a place to eat. loads of winding roads leading to dying communities , no shops or pubs which were open, most shut down or the odd one which never opened till 5.00pm. In the end we found one in raven glass which was around 35miles away The Pennington arms very posh lovely food and yes dogs allowed so that was good but who wants to travel 35 miles to each day...We don't expect to go on holiday and search for eating places or places to see... Silcroft was a lovely little place fantastic beach but that was it.. Very very disappointed not really a place for dogs. or eating out.... as I said a dying run down area...Very disappointed and felt like I had wasted my money."

"Great farmhouse conversion into a 'farm' cottage with comfortable and good-sized bedrooms. Number of en-suites and separate bathroom great for families. Very well designed and equipped kitchen and living area with large and comfortable dining area attached. Location fine for us near to coast and short drives to Coniston and up to Ravenglass area - no more than 45 minutes. Set in midst of sheep farming area but with dog on the lead at all times able to walk some interesting paths close to the cottage. Stone walls and effective gates meant dogs secure at the cottage too. Would suggest looking at re-cycling information - only seemed possible to recycle glass with tins etc and paper going into same general waste bin. No details about what should have gone into several light grey bins which always seemed to be empty ? Apart from this minor point a great cottage for a good number of adults and children to stay together. A large hot tub was cleaned and serviced every day."

"Moore cottage is not what we expected. It wasn't very clean. Empty Popcorn bags in kitchen, someones underwear in bedroom, dirty dusty heaters, light switch's crusted with hand prints plus more.. Location of Moore cottage means staff leave their cars running directly under the window of Moore Cottage whilst they clock in for work. This happened at 7.15am every morning of our stay, music blaring out from the cars. Not a great start to the day. We had to put cushions and towels up against the windows to block the draughts, as the headboards of the beds are positioned under the windows it was very cold and our children were very uncomfortable. As the cottage is over looking the maintenance sheds and entrance it means vehicles and trucks park directly outside the cottage occasionally blocking the exit. Maybe we visited this cottage on a bad week.It certainly does not look like the inviting cottage in the brochure."

"On first arrival we were a little bit disappointed with the area but the cottage is a wee diamond in the rough. The people of Millom and Haverigg are so friendly and helpful giving you helpful hints of places to see and eat out. The cottage had everything you would find in your own house which is exactly what we needed. Only downside there were only three comfy chairs in the living room and four in our family. And to spend all evening sitting on a dining chair was a bit much. We will be back as our children and dogs had a fantastic time. The cottage is great for a base, bedrooms very spacious with loads of storage, garden a great bonus for the evenings. I loved the local area and the neighbours were very friendly too."

"Unfortunately our lodge was the only on next to the main carpark and therefore intruded upon with all of the staff coming and going and people using the parks facilities (all of the lodge windows over look this and it also makes using the hot tub with an audience a slightly uncomfortable experience). There was also building work that was going on next to this lodge (literally within 2 foot of our bedrooms) complete with diggers, workmen etc that started work early and continued throughout the day. This lodge shouldn't be used whilst the building work is going on and given its situation next to the main car park should be less than the others on the park - this is the worst positioned one on the entire park - Number 7"
