Ravenglass is the only coastal village in the Lake District National Park. It's a unique little place with a a gentle atmosphere and a rich seam of history running through. Just a short walk from the cottage is a well-preserved Roman bathhouse. Now it's more famous as the starting point for the Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, a wonderful narrow-gauge steam railway which winds its way from the coast up to the foot of the mighty fells at Boot. Ornithologists are also well-served with several nature reserves nearby, including Eskmeals Dunes. Several eateries offer locally sourced food and real ales and there is a cafe and playground at the Ratty station. The village also boasts excellent train links, making Ravenglass the perfect Lake District location for an easy short break at any time of the year.

The stunning valleys of Wasdale and Eskdale are nearby with a world of fell walking to be enjoyed from the mighty Scafells, the highest mountains in England, to lower level peaks such as Irton Pike and Muncaster Fell that all the family can enjoy. In fact, visitors to the property can walk up Muncaster Fell from the door, why not pack a picnic and head up there to make the most of the glorious coastal and mountain panorama? The coastline is also a natural treasure trove with dunes to explore and a wealth of visiting birdlife.

On arrival at the cottage, guests enter straight into the living room from the front door. This is a cosy space with an old world feel about it, furnished with a comfy sofa and two armchairs arranged around an electric, stove-effect fire and a wall mounted TV with Freeview. There are plenty of books to keep you interested here too.

The modern kitchen beyond this has a built-in fan oven with ceramic hobs, a dishwasher, fridge and all the crockery and cookware you'll need for your stay. The washing machine can be found on the way through to the family bathroom at the back of the house. The bathroom has a white suite with over-bath mixer shower. At the rear of the house is a small back yard.

Upstairs are the two comfortable bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed with a large wooden wardrobe, decorative fireplace and an electric shower with the enclosure within the bedroom.
