What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs Hornby - Verified booking

We enjoyed our stay at Sea Reach and its proximity to the beach and centre of Looe. The cottage is pretty well equiped and it was a nice touch with food essentials + on arrival. It was all straight forward re getting the house keys and key for the parking space. The only negative was the cleaniliness in the kitchen/downstairs area. In a very old cottage the odd few cobwebs and dust etc is to be expected. However I had to clean cupboards in order to put our food away as they were sticky and grubby. Remains of food items left to be helpful is fine if it is within date bottles clean etc. Some of the crockery, utensils and glasses were dirty smeary and not clean. In the end I washed before using. It seems a shame that this is not dealt with as there is a dish washer. Floors again downstairs were not very clean. I understand that the cottage allows dogs but we always use a towel for the dogs as they come in after they have been out and a stone floor is really easily mopped and carpets hoovered. Upstairs was fine. The travel cot was very useful as was the high chair. We asked for a stair gate which you confirmed by email was available and in the cottage. However when we arrived this was broken and would not have fitted the bottom of the stairs in the lounge. We resorted to using a broken airer to block the stairs and stop a one year old and two dogs escaping up them!! The smoke alarm started beeping in the middle of the night and the power downstairs in the kitchen went which was tricky with making bottles for a baby. We located the fuse box the next day & informed Richard who came out. However it was not clear what had caused the problem and attempts to retify the smoke alarm did not work so in the end we took the new battery out and the beeping seemed to stop. We informed Richard as to what we had done. But obviously this is not a long term solution as there is no back up if the power goes and there is a fire. The gas had to be checked whilst we were there which Richard apologised for and I understand that these jobs have to be done. But again when everyone is in the cottage and babies need naps it is not ideal especially as no specific time was able to be given and the engineer just turned up! It is a sweet cottage in a good location it just needs a bit of tlc and care to bring it up to the standard one would expect when paying rent for a holiday. The question below re recommendation is tricky. If the areas above were dealt with then yes because its location is great but from our experience this time probably not.

This is an amazing cottage and one we will return to .

As we celebrated New Year the Christmas decorations were up still up. This included a gorgeous Christmas Tree and a wreath on the door . There was also a welcome hamper with lots of goodies . The cottage was the most cleanest self catering accommodation I have stayed in . It was really luxurious and we did not want to leave . The beds and bedding are superb and as it is so quiet there we had the best nights sleep . The Hot Tub was a great way to enjoy the countryside views. It was well maintained and is on a raised terrace so easy access . Inside the cottage is tastefully furnished and there are lots of thoughtful touches . These included hair bands and cotton buds . The Kitchen is well equipped and was great as we cooked several times . Tescos delivered to us too which was helpful . We drove out to several local beaches and spent a morning in Looe. We enjoyed Seaton Beach with the Dog . The cottage was a welcome retreat to come back to . We will return one day to this lovely haven. So much work has gone into this and it shows .

Weathervane is a beautiful cottage on top of a steep hill, so therefore wonderful views over Looe and looking down to the harbour. The bedrooms, bathroom, and shower facilities were excellent. The lounge was cosy and comfortable with all media facilities provided. We brought our Jack Russell puppy and she loved scamping around the lounge on the flagstone floor, just perfect for her! The local people in the shops in Looe are very friendly and it was nice to see the resort in December when it was quiet, but as they were getting ready for Christmas, it was lovely to see all the decorations going up and a festive atmosphere beginning. We loved our stay and I would recommend Looe and Weathervane most highly.

    • Mrs Gurteen - Verified booking

We very much enjoyed our stay at this cosy cottage which has beautiful views across Looe to the sea. Bedrooms were a good size with plenty of storage space and hangers. Beds were very comfortable with good quality linen. Although the weather was very warm whilst we were there, the cottage remained lovely and cool. The split level garden had marvellous views and provided two patio areas for outside dining or sipping a drink. It was very useful to have a parking space (it would be a tight fit for a big car but was ample for our VW Polo) as there is limited parking nearby. The location is good in that various restaurants/pubs are within a 20 min walk but the walk is steeply uphill for the return journey.

    • Ms Emma Arkell - Verified booking

The cottage was great and we loved many aspects of it. A couple of trays would have been very handy as we ate outside every night, so there was a lot of carrying to and fro from the kitchen. I would have liked more info about the location - accessibility to town in particular, as the walk up the hill is a bit of a killer and not for the faint-hearted! Also for the price we were paying, I would have expected a much more welcoming welcome pack and some basic bathroom products as well. I have always used Rural Retreats till now and they do fabulous welcome packs which is so nice when you arrive at a new place after a long drive
