    Flushing Holiday Cottages

The coastal village of Flushing sits 3 miles east of Penryn and about 10 miles south of Truro, facing Falmouth across the Penryn River. Best known for its annual Regatta Week every July, Flushing holiday cottages are popular amongst those looking for a few days away in a picturesque location, without too many crowds or tourists.

Flushing is classed as a Cornwall AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), giving it the same level of environmental protection as a National Park - hence its gorgeous greenery. Indeed, Flushing feels fairly different to other nearby neighbourhoods, as it was settled by a Dutch community back in the 17th century and retains a European charm. The Norman style St Peter’s Church is a scenic photo spot for visitors and the Seven Stars riverside pub is a must-visit for local cuisine.

Snaptrip has thousands of holiday cottages listed on its site, in Flushing and beyond. With every booking covered by the Snaptrip best price guarantee, you won't find better value elsewhere. Filter your property search by feature to find the right place or give our customer service team a call to discuss if you need a helping hand.

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Paul - Verified booking

Great property + great location = great holiday.

The three adults plus two small dogs in our party all have a great time here. Seaview was spotlessly clean on our arrival and had some nice personalised touches that we appreciated. We found the kitchen/dining area a little "compact" but it wasn't a problem as we worked around this easily enough and anyway, it was more than compensated for by the large and comfortable lounge. The bedrooms were well furnished, comfortable and had a good storage space. Worth mentioning that the kitchen was particularly well equipped with all manner of pots, pans, casseroles, knives, dishes etc. There were even two different kinds of vegetable peeler! The nominated parking spaces were a bonus too. Located at the end of a private road, Seaview was quiet yet had amazing panoramic views of the sea that were captivating whether sunny or stormy. It's 50m above sea level so there's a bit of a climb back up from Coverack itself or the small (and almost private) Porthbeer Cove with its mixture rocky/sandy beach. Its only 700m (not the mile quoted in the Sykes listing) by footpath to the lovely Coverack harbour with the excellent (if somewhat pricey) Lifeboat chippie and Paris Hotel. Good coast path walks in both directions right from the door. We toured the area a bit. We enjoyed Loe Bar and Porthleven in rough weather – these can be accessed from car parks in the north of Loe Bar or the NT Penrose Estate. The Spingo beer at the Blue Anchor in Helston was as good as I remember it from 40 years ago and the walk around Lizard Point excellent and sparsely populated once you got 200m from the car parks! Note that Seaview's location is nowhere near that indicated on the Sykes mapping. Exceeded expectations.

An amazing experience staying at the lighthouse cottage, unique and with amazing views. Everything was clean and furniture inside was lovely. Toiletries were a nice touch and the welcome basket. However for the amount of money people are paying there are some things that need to be improved, particularly the garden furniture which was old and one of the seats was broken, and the bench seat in the garden is broken. So needs to be a better standard, with a heavy duty sun parasol, and maybe some sun loungers so people can really take advantage of the lovely garden. TV was far too small. Also some general upkeep issues like the toilet seat in the shower room was discoloured underneath and one of the rubber feet was missing. Appreciate its an old cottage with character features but the windows were very difficult to open, my husband had to go outside and stand on a chair in order to push open the kitchen window! No fan provided. Only other comment was that on numerous occasions we did catch people trying to enter by climbing over the garden fence, even though the padlock was in place and it was clearly private. So perhaps a better sign , or higher fence would help?

What a lovely place to stay.

The cottage was clean, well stocked with all the equipment we might need both in the kitchen and living room where there was a selection of books, games and dvds alongside lots of tourist information leaflets. I spent a lot of time enjoying the view from the front bedroom out to sea. The cottage is set in a beautiful background with well maintained gardens around it and lots to explore. The nearby sculpture park is a nice easy stroll away, free to go around and dog friendly. We spent a lot of time walking along the coastal path exploring, swimming in the sea and watching seals on the rocks. There is a beach at low tide only 10 minutes walk away. Coverack is a beautiful village with a large dog friendly beach, good essential food shop, cafe, pub, chippy and restaurants. This is a good place to stay with lots nearby to do and also lots a short drive away. We felt very welcomed as soon as we arrived with the gift of some lovely cookies a pack of playing cards and a beautiful local card with a message on it left by the owners. Definitely will be going back. Loved every minute there.

The Threshing barn is set in a lovely village location perfect for anyone wanting a peaceful holiday. It is about 20 minutes to Truro and Falmouth and also to Porthtowan beach, where you can book surfing lessons and there are cafes/restaurants, beach shops and toilets. As a family of 4 (children aged 15 and 12) the size of the barn was ideal and with 2 bathrooms there were no arguments! I would suggest some hooks to be added in the bathrooms for dressing gowns/ towels to be hung. There were plenty of coat hangers in the wardrobes. Beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well-equipped!The outside space is lovely and well-maintained, the patio area has seating and a BBQ - unfortunately the weather didn't permit us to enjoy the outdoor area! There is also two car spaces and a games room with a table tennis table, this area is shared with the cottage on the grounds. We had an issue with the oven the day after we arrived and customer services were very efficient and it was sorted the next working day and It didn't stop us from having a wonderful holiday at the Threshing Barn.

We stayed for three days in February when the storms were at their height. The property feels very safe (as you'd expect from a lighthouse cottage) and the challenging journey down to the lighthouse during the storm (via the very steep path which others have mentioned) just added to the atmosphere and the sense of getting away from normal life. In other words, we loved it. The property is furnished to an excellent standard. There is a viewing room separate to the cottage and even this has a heater and furniture so is a great place to eat your breakfast and watch the sea. The fog horn sounded quite frequently while we were there but it's really not loud or annoying enough to case a disturbance when you're inside the cottage. The best advice is to wear sensible shoes to and from the property and to only take what you really need down that access path on arrival (because taking it back to your car on the day you leave is going to be a proper workout!). Comfortable beds and furniture, warm, everything we needed. Highly recommended.
